1) Philip R. Dodge Young Investigator Award: An award for basic science or clinical research by promising young investigators who are members of the Child Neurology Society. Applications will be judged on the basis of originality, scientific merit, succinctness, and relevance. The recipient of the Dodge award will receive a grant-in-aid of $20,000 and will be invited to present their work at the 46th Annual Meeting of the Child Neurology Society in Kansas City, MO on October 6, 2017. 2) Child Neurology Shields Research Grant: The grant supports translational or clinical research by a child neurologist or developmental pediatrician early in his/her academic career. These fellowships are designed to identify and develop a new generation of leaders interested in and capable of creating practice and policy initiatives that will enhance child development and improve the nation's ability to prevent all forms of child maltreatment.

The Child Neurology Foundation (CNF) announces the Michael SanInocencio LGS Grant to support basic or clinical research of LGS by a child neurologist who has completed training in an ACGME-approved program, no more than seven years prior to application, is a legal resident of the United States or Canada, and is a registered member of the Child Neurology Society. Applicants with current or approved pending NIH funding will be excluded. Applications will be judged on their clarity and conciseness as well as their relevance and proposed impact on LGS. The selected recipient will receive a one-year grant of $30,000. The award review committee is composed of members of the Board of Directors of the Child Neurology Foundation and members of the LGS Foundation Scientific Review Committee.

Zimbabwe’s HIV epidemic is declining but remains generalized, with a national prevalence of 14%, incidence among adults 15-64 years of 0.45% (~32,000 new infections annually) and a mother to child transmission (MTCT) rate of 5.2%despite prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) coverage of 93%. There are approximately 1.4 million people living with HIV (PLHIV), steadily increasing as PLHIV live longer on treatment. However, testing, treatment, and viral suppression coverage lag behind the 90-90-90 targets; in particular, the“first 90” where 74% of PLHIV know their status. Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) has highlighted human resource challenges across the entire continuum of HIV service delivery. As Zimbabwe has adopted the UNAIDS Fast Track strategy for epidemic control, differentiated care becomes increasingly necessary to increase convenience and access and decongest clinical facilities. These strategies have been piloted in different settings, but require rapid scale-up. This NOFO aims to reach epidemic control in the challenging, resource-constrained environment of Zimbabwe. Through a comprehensive approach addressing facility and community-based services, the recipient will provide direct support and technical assistance (TA) to accelerate the HIV service delivery cascade and improve data quality and utilization for decision-making. The NOFO is also an opportunity to partner with the MOHCC to develop creative and sustainable solutions.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to promote collaborative biomedical research between the United States and Brazil under the U.S.-Brazil Biomedical Collaborative Research Program. Research areas supported under this program include allergy, immunology, and infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS and its co-morbidities; cancer; mother-to-child transmission of HIV and other congenital infections, early infant diagnosis and treatment; HIV/AIDS in relation to mental health; and neurological disorders and stroke.

The Fund recognizes that young investigators may find it difficult to remain in pediatric research because of a lack of funding. Therefore, the purpose of this program is to encourage the development of medical research in child health by awarding small grants to new researchers, helping them gain a foothold in this important area. The goal is to fund applicants who will go on to be independent investigators. The Fund will make up to 30 awards total with two funding cycles (15 awards each). The Fund is open to a wide variety of research topics. We do not focus on a particular ​disease, but all our funded projects deal directly with children's health. In the Early Career Award Program, the Fund is particularly interested in applicants that show great potential to impact that field of children's health through medical research. Both an applicant's aptitude and inclination toward research are considered. The quality of the mentor and the mentoring relationship are also considered to be important predictors of success.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), through the Fertility and Infertility (FI) Branch, provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive sciences.  These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in this scientific area.  The centers also serve as national resources for the training and career development of young scientists electing to pursue biomedical research careers in reproduction and infertility.  Finally, center investigators develop and participate in community outreach and education efforts to increase awareness and convey the importance and implications of their research activities to the general public.  Accordingly, the purpose of this FOA is to announce the re-competition of the National Centers for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI).  The NCTRI will be administered through the Specialized Research Center (P50) award mechanism.  These centers will form a national network that facilitates and accelerates bidirectional knowledge transfer between the laboratory and clinic with the goal of improving human reproductive health through research excellence and innovation.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Division of Epidemiology, Statistics, and Prevention Research intends to solicit proposals to award an Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract to an organization to conduct various studies focusing on a spectrum of health effects in men, women, and children that rely on quantification of analytes in biological specimens such as blood, urine, adipose tissue, follicular fluids, and seminal fluids.  The Division needs a variety of banked specimens analyzed for concentrations of various hormone levels, dietary biomarkers, and indicators of metabolic function among other analytes.

This initiative is designed to facilitate and encourage comparative medicine research studies through the careful selection and refinement of farm animal models that mimic human developmental, physiological and etiological processes to better understand disease origins and improve assisted reproduction efficiencies. The anticipated outcomes include both the elucidation of fundamental information relevant for the improvement of human health and an increase in food animal production and improvement in animal health and product quality. The Margaret Oakley Dayhoff Award is given to a woman who holds very high promise or has achieved prominence while developing the early stages of a career in biophysical research within the purview and interest of the Biophysical Society. Achievement means that the candidate has already published substantial contributions to science; promise means that the candidate shows indications of leadership in ideas, organization, or other ways manifest for her colleagues within the scientific community. A candidate who has already received university tenure by the due date on nomination is not eligible. A candidate having a PhD or equivalent degree shall be eligible until she has completed 10 years of full-time work following the degree. A candidate with a Baccalaureate degree but without a PhD shall have 12 years of eligibility. Time taken off for child-rearing will not be counted in this total. Part-time work and other special circumstances will be evaluated at the discretion of the Committee. Candidates who work in non-academic environments are eligible if their work is published, meets academic standards, and they do not have tenure equivalency.
