This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages formative research, intervention development, and pilot-testing of interventions. Primary scientific areas of focus include the feasibility, tolerability, acceptability and safety of novel or adapted interventions that target HIV prevention, treatment or services research. For the purposes of this FOA, "intervention" may include behavioral, social, or structural approaches, as well as combination biomedical and behavioral approaches that prevent the acquisition and transmission of HIV infection, or improve clinical outcomes for persons who are HIV infected.

This notice solicits applications for the Evidence-Based Tele-Behavioral Health Network Program (EB-THNP). For the purposes of this NOFO, telehealth is defined as the use of electronic information and telecommunication technologies to support and promote long-distance clinical health care, patient and professional health-related education, public health and health administration. Telehealth modalities to be used to support clinical treatment may include video conferencing, the internet, store-and-forward imaging, streaming media, and terrestrial and wireless communications.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) for R34 applications seeks to support: (a) pilot and/or feasibility testing of innovative new, revised, or adapted prevention intervention approaches to prevent or delay the initiation and onset of drug and alcohol use, the progression to misuse or problem use or alcohol and other substance use disorder, reduce drinking and driving and deaths related to impaired driving, and the drug- or alcohol-related acquisition or transmission of HIV infection and viral hepatitis among diverse populations and settings; and, (b) pre-trial feasibility and acceptability testing for prevention services and systems research. It is expected that research conducted via this R34 mechanism will consist of studies that are a pre-requisite for preparing and submitting subsequent applications for larger scale drug or alcohol abuse prevention and/or drug- or alcohol-related HIV prevention intervention studies. This R34 FOA does not support applications for which the sole focus is development of intervention protocols, manuals, or the standardization of protocols. Any intervention development work must be imbedded within a pilot/feasibility study. Of particular interest is prevention research that addresses current public health priorities and priority settings and systems.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NHLBI R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce by providing research experiences and related opportunities that enrich the pool of individuals from nationally underrepresented groups who will be available to compete for research opportunities in the mission areas of importance to NHLBI. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NHLBI R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce in the mission areas of importance to NHLBI. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on Research Experiences

The purpose of this BAA is to provide for the competitive selection of research proposals for social and behavioral science research to deepen our understanding of the complex social and behavioral processes underpinning intelligence interviewing and interrogation. Offerors will not conduct research for the HIG in HIG facilities The HIG Research Program is the premier provider and trusted source for the state of the art and science of interrogation. The HIG supports research and development of an effective, science-based model of interrogation. To this end, the HIG Research Program commissions basic and applied science and field validation/effectiveness studies to rigorously examine current and new approaches to interrogation. The program incorporates new insights and methods based on rigorous science to ensure practitioners are equipped with knowledge from the behavioral and social sciences that will make them better interrogators, interviewers and de-briefers. The HIG highly encourages participation from transdisciplinary research teams from social and behavioral sciences, and collaborative teaming arrangements amongst multiple institutions that have the relevant expertise and facilities to execute fundamental and applied research. Please refer to Appendix A for previous, published research supported by the HIG.

The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences (ARI) announces the ARI FY18-23 Broad Agency Announcement for Basic, Applied, and Advanced Scientific Research. This Broad Agency Announcement, which sets forth research areas of interest to the United States Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences, is issued under the provisions of paragraph 6.102(d)(2) of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), which provides for the competitive selection of proposals. Proposals submitted in response to this BAA and selected for award are considered to be the result of full and open competition and in full compliance with the provisions of Public Law 98-369 (The Competition in Contracting Act of 1984) and subsequent amendments. The U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences is the Army's lead agency for the conduct of research, development, and analyses for the improvement of Army readiness and performance via research advances and applications of the behavioral and social sciences that address personnel, organization, training, and leader development issues. Programs funded under this BAA include basic research, applied research, and advanced technology development that can improve human performance and Army readiness.

The overall objective is for the national network of UCEDDs to expand their Interdisciplinary training aimed at clinicians and other providers to include effective methods for differentially diagnosing mental illness in individuals with I/DD and evidence based treatment and interventions, such as SMART; person centered care, planning and approaches; behavioral therapy; and trauma informed care programs.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages research grant applications focusing on identification and management of behavioral symptoms and mental health conditions in individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID). Specific areas of interest for this funding opportunity are (1) proposals to develop and validate assessment tools that reliably identify behavioral symptoms or diagnose mental health conditions in individuals with ID, and (2) proposals studying the pharmacokinetics, safety and efficacy of specific psychotropic medications for treatment of behavioral symptoms or mental health conditions in individuals with ID.

CDC announces the availability of fiscal year 2018 (FY18) funds to implement DP18-1813 Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH). This 5-year initiative is to improve health, prevent chronic diseases, and reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest risk, or burden, of chronic disease, specifically for African Americans/Blacks, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans, Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islanders, American Indians, and Alaska Natives, by: Supporting culturally tailored interventions to address the preventable health behaviors of tobacco use, poor nutrition and physical inactivity Linking community and clinical efforts to increase access to health care and preventive care programs at the community level Supporting implementation, evaluation and dissemination of practice- and evidence-based strategies on the four topic areas of tobacco, nutrition, physical activity, and community-clinical collaborations that ultimately lead to reduced health disparities in chronic conditions of hypertension, heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and obesity Funding will support recipients that: Have a history of successfully working with an established community coalition to address issues relating to health or other disparities. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for the fiscal year (FY) 2018 Minority Fellowship Program (Short Title: MFP). The purpose of this program is to reduce behavioral health disparities and improve healthcare outcomes for racial and ethnic minority populations by: (1) increasing the knowledge of behavioral health professionals on issues related to treatment and recovery support for individuals who are from racial and ethnic minority populations and have a substance use disorder (SUD); (2) improving the quality of SUD treatment services delivered to racial and ethnic minority populations; and (3) increasing the number of culturally competent professionals in psychology focusing on services appropriate for those with SUDs, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine who teach, administer services, conduct research, and provide direct SUD services to racial and ethnic minority populations. The SUD treatment and recovery needs of racial and ethnic minority communities in the United States have been historically unmet due to the scarcity of practitioners equipped to address this population's needs. The MFP increases the number of behavioral health professionals with knowledge of issues related to treatment and recovery support for SUD among racial and ethnic minority populations. This program aims to specifically expand the training of professionals with a focus in psychology, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine.

The NIH Director's Pioneer Award supports individual scientists of exceptional creativity who propose highly innovative and potentially transformative approaches to major challenges in the biomedical or behavioral sciences towards the goal of enhancing human health. Applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and in any topic relevant to the broad mission of NIH are welcome. To be considered pioneering, the proposed research must reflect substantially different scientific directions from those already being pursued in the investigator's research program or elsewhere. Applications should address circuit function in the context of specific neural systems such as sensation, perception, attention, reasoning, intention, decision-making, emotion, navigation, communication or homeostasis. Projects should link theory and data analysis to experimental design and should produce predictive models as deliverables. Projects should aim to improve the understanding of circuits of the central nervous system by systematically controlling stimuli and/or behavior while actively recording and/or manipulating dynamic patterns of neural activity. Projects can use non-human and human species, and applications should explain how the selected species offers ideal conditions for revealing general principles about the circuit basis of a specific behavior.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) invites applications to evaluate the cumulative and progressive effects on brain structure and cognitive/behavioral function of combined HIV infection and alcohol abuse on older patients cohorts.

On September 4, 2003, President George W. Bush signed the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (Public Law 108-79). The act requires BJS to carry out, for each calendar year, a comprehensive statistical review and analysis of the incidence and effects of prison rape. The act further instructs BJS to collect survey data: the Bureau shall use surveys and other statistical studies of current and former inmates. The law was passed in part to overcome a shortage of available research on the incidence and prevalence of sexual violence in correctional facilities. To implement the act, BJS developed the National Prison Rape Statistics Program (NPRS), which includes four separate data collection efforts: the Survey on Sexual Victimization (SSV, formerly Survey of Sexual Violence), National Inmate Survey (NIS), National Survey of Youth in Custody (NSYC), and National Former Prisoner Survey (NFPS). Each of these collections is independent and, while not directly comparable, they provide measures of the prevalence and characteristics of sexual assault in correctional facilities. The SSV collects information about incidents of sexual violence reported to and investigated by adult and juvenile correctional authorities and characteristics of substantiated incidents. The NIS collects allegations of sexual assault self-reported by adult and juvenile inmates in correctional facilities. The NSYC gathers self-reported sexual assault data from youth in juvenile correctional facilities. The NFPS measures allegations of sexual assault experienced during a person s last incarceration, as reported by former inmates under community active supervision
