NCIPC is seeking research proposals focused on rigorously evaluating previously or currently implemented federal, state, local, tribal or organizational policies for impacts on multiple forms of violence, including child abuse and neglect, youth violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence and/or suicide. The proposed research should evaluate the impact of a selected policy on reducing rates of at least two of these violence outcomes. The proposed research must focus on a policy that has not yet been rigorously evaluated. The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows program is designed to provide a comprehensive fellowship experience at the nexus of health science, policy, and politics in Washington, D.C. The program provides an opportunity for exceptional mid-career health professionals and behavioral and social scientists with an interest in health and healthcare policy. Fellows participate in the policy process at the federal level and use that leadership experience to improve health, health care, and health policy. Policies for Action: Policy and Law Research to Build a Culture of Health (P4A) was created to help build the evidence base for policies that can help build a Culture of Health. P4A seeks to engage long-standing health care, mental and behavioral health, and public health researchers, as well as experts in areas that we recognize have strong influence on health, well-being and equity-such as labor, criminal justice, education, transportation, housing, and the built environment.

The purpose of this announcement is to support research to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of primary prevention strategies for the perpetration of sexual violence. The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control's research priorities for sexual violence prevention include evaluating the efficacy and effectiveness of programs, strategies, and policies across all levels of the social ecology to prevent and interrupt the development of sexual violence perpetration. In addition, the Center's research priorities highlight the need to identify effective programs, strategies, and policies that might prevent multiple types of violence concurrently, including sexual violence, intimate partner violence, and other forms of violence, and evaluating the economic efficiency of such programs, strategies and policies. Research funded under this announcement will address these priorities by rigorously evaluating programs, strategies, or policies for their impact on rates of sexual violence perpetration in one of two areas: (a) strategies that engage boys and men, or (b) structural, environmental, and/or policy interventions. Although the primary focus of research conducted with these funds should be on reducing sexual violence perpetration, the inclusion of other violence-related outcomes (e.g., dating/intimate partner violence) is also encouraged.

The Science of Science & Innovation Policy (SciSIP) program supports research designed to advance the scientific basis of science and innovation policy. The program funds research to develop models, analytical tools, data and metrics that can be applied in the science policy decision making process and concern the use and allocation of scarce scientific resources. For example, research proposals may develop behavioral and analytical conceptualizations, frameworks or models that have applications across the broad array of science and innovation policy challenges. Proposals also may develop methodologies to analyze science, technology and innovation data, and to usefully convey that information to a variety of audiences. Proposals that create and improve science, engineering and innovation data, including the design of new metrics and indicators, particularly proposals that demonstrate the viability of collecting and analyzing data on knowledge generation and innovation in organizations, are encouraged.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for its APF Annette Urso Rickel Foundation Dissertation Award for Public Policy. The $1,000 scholarship supports dissertation research on public policy that has the potential to improve services for children and families facing psychosocial issues such as prevention of child abuse, school programs for children with psychological issues, services for youth in the criminal justice system, healthy parenting, math and science education, and contributions to the adoption of sound policy affecting children, youth, and families. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student in psychology enrolled full time in a regionally accredited institution located in the U.S. or Canada; have completed his/her doctoral candidacy, including dissertation approval by a doctoral committee; and have demonstrated research competence and commitment to the field.

This NOFO seeks proposals to rigorously evaluate the effectiveness of primary prevention programs, policies, or practices implemented by CDC-funded Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) programs to prevent sexual violence. Research funded under this announcement is intended to expand the evidence base for sexual violence prevention in one or more of the following strategy areas identified in the STOP SV technical package: Promote Social Norms that Protect Against Violence, Provide Opportunities to Empower and Support Girls and Women, and Create Protective Environments. CDC's STOP SV: A Technical Package to Prevent Sexual Violence outlines the best available evidence for sexual violence prevention and is used by state and local health departments participating in CDC's RPE Program to develop and implement programs, policies and practices to prevent sexual violence (https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/sv-prevention-technical-package.pdf). The proposed research is expected to rigorously evaluate practice-based prevention approaches to increase the evidence for sexual violence prevention programs, policies, or practices that have traction within the field, are feasible to implement by practitioners, and acceptable to communities. The research results are expected to expand on, and not replicate or adapt, the existing evidence base in sexual violence prevention. Applicants must clearly describe each partnership or collaboration necessary to conduct the research.

The Sociological Initiatives Foundation was established to support research that advances social change, including language learning and behavior and its intersection with social and policy questions. The foundation supports projects that address institutional rather than individual or behavioral change and seeks to fund research and initiatives that provide insight into sociological and linguistic issues that can be useful to specific groups and/or communities. To that end, grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded in support of research projects focused on social policy; institutional and educational practices; linguistic issues (e.g., literacy, language loss and maintenance, language policy, language and national security, bilingualism, language and gender, language and law, language disabilities, language and health, language and education, different language cultures); and community capacity and the organization of previously unorganized groups. Preference will be given to subjects that tend to be underfunded and projects of a size where an SFI grant can make a difference.

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to incorporate social outcomes (quality of life, untreated pain, etc.) and cost effectiveness into FDA's existing model and policy analysis tool. Work resulting from this funding opportunity should provide more holistic insight into the opioid crisis and enhance decision makers' ability to propose and consider policy options. Such work will require the integration of new structural components, new data, and new analyses into the model. Given the paucity of data surrounding opioids interventions, this effort will also require studies to collect information about the costs, social outcomes, and other details associated with potential policies.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support (1) research to test the efficacy or effectiveness of interventions to prevent initiation and/or escalation of ENDS (electronic nicotine delivery system) use among adolescents; and(2 )research on the impact of tobacco control policies, including ENDS-specific policies, on adolescent ENDS use behavior. Of priority is research that is theoretically based and identifies specific risk and protective factors to target through prevention intervention, or research on policies that can impact adolescent ENDS use. Particularly, for prevention intervention research (e.g., school, community, and clinic-based), collaboration with stakeholders and likely program adopters is required to ensure feasibility for implementation, scalability, dissemination and sustainability. For this funding announcement, individuals as young as 12 and as old as 18 encompass the core target age range. Justification for the specific age or age range of the target population is required, including studies that propose targeting youth outside the core age range.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) establishes an accelerated review/award process to support time-sensitive research to evaluate a new policy or program that is likely to influence obesity related behaviors (e.g., dietary intake, physical activity, or sedentary behavior) and/or weight outcomes in an effort to prevent or reduce obesity. This FOA is intended to support research where opportunities for empirical study are, by their very nature, only available through expedited review and funding. All applications to this FOA must demonstrate that the evaluation of an obesity related policy and /or program offers an uncommon and scientifically compelling research opportunity that will only be available if the research is initiated with minimum delay. For these reasons, applications in response to this time-sensitive FOA are not eligible for re-submission. It is intended that eligible applications selected for funding will be awarded within 4 months of the application due date. However, administrative requirements and other unforeseen circumstances may delay issuance dates beyond that timeline.

The goal of this FOA is to support short courses geared to behavioral and social scientists who have existing expertise in aging research and can make research contributions in Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD) with additional knowledge about the disease and related research resources. Fields of behavioral and social science research relevant for this FOA are health economics, labor economics, health services research, healthcare policy, public policy, demography, sociology, social epidemiology, psychology, and social neuroscience. Priority areas of focus include, but are not limited to, the following: dementia care; dementia caregiver research; cognitive and dementia epidemiology; behavioral and social pathways of AD/ADRD; role of social, contextual, environmental, and institutional factors in AD/ADRD; early psychological changes preceding AD/ADRD onset; prevention of AD/ADRD; disparities in AD/ADRD or dementia-related outcomes; and research resources and methods for studying the determinants and impact of AD/ADRD.

Purpose of Program: The Institute's purpose in awarding these grants is to provide national leadership in expanding fundamental knowledge and understanding of (1) developmental and school readiness outcomes for infants and toddlers with or at risk for a disability, and (2) education outcomes for all students from early childhood education through postsecondary and adult education. The Institute's research grant programs are designed to provide interested individuals and the general public with reliable and valid information about education practices that support learning and improve academic achievement and access to education opportunities for all students. These interested individuals include parents, educators, students, researchers, and policymakers. In carrying out its grant programs, the Institute provides support for programs of research in areas of demonstrated national need. The goal of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to facilitate research to identify individual influences on the effectiveness of population-level strategies that target cancer-related behaviors. We seek to encourage collaborations among scientists with expertise in health policy research and implementation, as well as investigators in scientific disciplines that have not traditionally conducted cancer or policy research, such as: psychological science (e.g., social, developmental); affective and cognitive neuroscience; judgment and decision-making; consumer behavior and marketing; organizational behavior; sociology, cultural anthropology; behavioral economics; linguistics; and political science.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance our understanding about what works to prevent violence by rigorously evaluating primary prevention strategies, programs, and policies to address specific gaps in the prevention of teen dating violence, intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and youth violence. This initiative is intended to support the evaluation of primary prevention strategies, programs or policies that target universal or selected high-risk populations (i.e., populations that have one or more risk factors that place them at heightened risk for perpetration of violence). Funds are available to conduct such studies focused on preventing the perpetration of youth violence and/or teen dating/intimate partner/sexual violence as detailed elsewhere in this announcement.
