The purpose of this FOA is to solicit applications to examine the impact of behavioral and social interventions designed to improve adherence to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for persons with Opioid Use Disorders (OUD). Applications may address MAT initiation, implementation, and/or persistence by OUD patients. Descriptive and intervention research that address adherence determinants at more than one level levels of ecologic influence (including the patient, caregiver/family, providers and/or healthcare system, and community levels) are of higher priority. Attention to scientific rigor in all applications is paramount, with emphasis on appropriate sample sizes and valid outcome measures.

Supported by the NIH Common Fund (Common Fund) Science of Behavior Change (SOBC) Program, this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits exploratory and developmental research project applications (R21) that will further the goal of the SOBC Program to advance a mechanisms-focused, experimental medicine approach to behavior change research. Funded projects in the SOBC Research Network have developed experimental manipulations, assays, and/or measures (hereafter referred to as assays for brevity) to support an experimental medicine approach to behavior change research. The SOBC Measures Repository assays are accessible from the SOBC Research Network Open Science Framework (OSF) page at https://osf.io/zp7b4. The goal of this announcement is to leverage SOBC Measures Repository assays of putative targets in self-regulation, stress reactivity and stress resilience, and interpersonal and social processes domains to (1) engage a selected putative target(s)/mechanism(s) of action or verify target engagement of the selected target(s)/mechanism(s) of action, and (2) test the degree to which engaging the putative target(s)/mechanism(s) of action produces a short-term desired change in a health behavior. Putative targets are the mechanisms or processes hypothesized to be malleable and play a causal role in producing behavior change, including medical regimen adherence.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces the availability of funds for the fiscal year 2018 Direct Services for Survivors of Torture (DS SOT) grant program. The purpose of the DS SOT program is to increase access to strengths-based, trauma-informed services that assist survivors of torture and their families in the healing and recovery process. Under this grant program, direct services are provided to persons who have been tortured on foreign soil under the color of law. The program offers holistic and integrated services including medical, psychological, legal, and social work. All of these services are provided either directly by the grantee or indirectly through partner organizations or affiliates.

NIAAA is seeking applications for medications development research projects from both for-profit and not-for-profit entities, including academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, private and public foundations, small businesses not eligible for the SBIR/STTR program and single entities able to demonstrate significant resource commitment to the proposed project. he desired outcomes include: 1) an increase in the number of admissions for MAT; 2) an increase in the number of clients receiving integrated care/treatment; 3) a decrease in illicit opioid drug use at six-month follow-up; and 4) a decrease in the use of prescription opioids in a non-prescribed manner at six-month follow-up. For the purpose of this FOA, integrated care/treatment is defined as the organized delivery and/or coordination of medical (including the use of Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs [buprenorphine, methadone, extended release injectable naltrexone] for addiction), behavioral, social, peer, and other recovery support services provided to individual patients who have multiple healthcare needs in order to produce better overall health outcomes.

The purpose of this award is to support outstanding basic and/or clinical researchers with the vision and expertise to translate research discoveries into medications for the treatment of Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) stemming from tobacco, cannabis, cocaine, methamphetamine, heroin, or prescription opiate use. Eligible applicants must demonstrate the ability to develop molecules with the potential to treat SUDs and advance them in the drug development continuum. The ultimate goal of this FOA is to bring molecules closer to FDA approval. The UG3/UH3 Phased Innovation Awards Cooperative Agreement involves 2 phases. The UG3 will support a project with specific milestones to be accomplished at the end of the 2-year period. The UH3 will provide funding for 3 years to a project that successfully completed the milestones set in the UG3. UG3 projects that have met their milestones will be administratively considered by NIDA and prioritized for transition to the UH3 phase. Investigators responding to this FOA must address both UG3 and UH3 phases.

The goal of the Smart and Connected Health (SCH) Program is to accelerate the development and use of innovative approaches that would support the much needed transformation of healthcare from reactive and hospital-centered to preventive, proactive, evidence-based, person-centered and focused on well-being rather than disease. Approaches that partner technology-based solutions with biobehavioral health research are supported by multiple agencies of the federal government including the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The purpose of this program is to develop next generation health care solutions and encourage existing and new research communities to focus on breakthrough ideas in a variety of areas of value to health, such as sensor technology, networking, information and machine learning technology, decision support systems, modeling of behavioral and cognitive processes, as well as system and process modeling. Effective solutions must satisfy a multitude of constraints arising from clinical/medical needs, social interactions, cognitive limitations, barriers to behavioral change, heterogeneity of data, semantic mismatch and limitations of current cyberphysical systems. The purpose of this cooperative agreement opportunity is to support the creation and/or maintenance of a transdisciplinary, multisite Research Network that will accelerate the translation of developmental science into MCH practice, promote scientific collaboration, and develop additional research capacity in the fields of adolescent and young adult (ages 10-25) health. A Research Network is a collaboration designed to conduct research across multiple sites, resulting in a greater collective impact. One institution serves as the primary awardee, and oversees and facilitates all Network activities. The Network must include researchers who study adolescence and young adulthood from a range of disciplines, including developmental neuroscience, behavioral and social sciences, and the medical and/or allied health fields, reflecting attention to the health and development of the whole person as well as to health care services for members of these two age groups.

NHTSA's Office of Behavioral Safety Research (OBSR) conducts research on the behaviors and attitudes of drivers, passengers, pedestrians, motorcyclists and bicyclists to identify factors involved in crashes or associated with injuries, and develop safety countermeasures. Topics of OBSR research include alcohol-impaired driving, drug-impaired driving, non-use of occupant protection restraints; speeding and unsafe driving behaviors, pedestrian safety, motorcyclist safety, novice drivers, older drivers; driver education and training, enforcement of traffic safety laws, prosecution and judicial services; and emergency medical services. OBSR requires various types of research studies for identifying and understanding safety problems and crash risks associated with human behavior; developing promising countermeasures that reduce injuries and save lives; and evaluating State, local and NHTSA demonstration projects to reduce unsafe actions and eliminate crash-generating situations.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to stimulate research evaluating the effect of care planning on self-management of late effects of cancer therapy; adherence to medications, cancer screening, and health behavior guidelines; utilization of follow-up care; survivors' health and psychosocial outcomes.

The mission of the Society of Family Planning Research Fund is to support interdisciplinary research in the biological, medical, epidemiological, behavioral, and social sciences related to family planning. The society focuses on a wide range of research areas - from improvements in basic conceptual or biomedical knowledge, to design of programs or policies that will provide family planning more safely, efficiently and extensively, to studies of the social and psychological dimensions of family planning services and programs.

This two-day conference focuses on translational aspects of addiction research among chemists, biologists, and behavioral scientists. The diversity of participants and attendees at this meeting (undergraduate students to senior faculty, chemists to psychiatrists) provides a unique venue for cross-fertilization among different disciplines and in so doing promotes new and innovative approaches to medications development in addictions biology. The meeting provides a stimulating environment for young scientists who are strongly encouraged to present their work and interact with senior scientists.

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will award Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Short-Term Institutional Research Training Grants (T35) to eligible, domestic institutions to develop and/or enhance research training opportunities for predoctoral students interested in careers in biomedical, behavioral or clinical research. Many NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) use this NRSA program exclusively to support intensive, short-term research training experiences for health professional students (medical students, dental students, and/or students in other health-professional programs) during the summer. NIJ is seeking rigorous research to evaluate promising practices and strategies that aim to promote effective management and supervision of offenders in both institutions and in the community. Specifically, NIJ is interested in receiving proposals for research and evaluation focused on: * Reducing violence and misconduct. * Provision of medical and mental health services. NIJ is particularly interested in receiving proposals addressing these topics in the context of jails, community corrections, and rural and tribal correctional systems. Every correctional setting has a unique operating environment and challenges. Yet jails, community corrections, and rural and tribal correction systems have received limited empirical attention relative to the number of jurisdictions they serve and the critical functions they provide in the delivery of correctional services. The research resulting from this solicitation supports the U.S. Department of Justice's priorities to reduce violent crime and to protect police and other public safety personnel.
