The project funded under this proposed announcement seeks applications from public and private nonprofit entities for one cooperative agreement for family planning research. The purpose of this family planning research cooperative agreement is to collect and analyze data on issues of interest to the family planning field. This cooperative agreement will fund a project to provide research in the biomedical, contraceptive development, behavioral and program implementation fields related to family planning and population. Analysis and research may include, but not limited to the following: the current services provided by family planning centers across the U. S.; trends on how service delivery and access to family planning and reproductive health services; levels of knowledge regarding family planning, reproductive health and related preventive services; and trends on contraceptive use.

The mission of the Society of Family Planning Research Fund is to support interdisciplinary research in the biological, medical, epidemiological, behavioral, and social sciences related to family planning. The purpose of the APS is to publicize the United States Government's (USG) plan to fund one award through USAID/Washington's Office of Population and Reproductive Health (PRH) to support a broad range of social science and behavioral research and technical assistance on a focused set of family planning and reproductive health (FP/RH) issues. The objective of the APS is described below. Funds may support activities that develop and test scalable interventions to achieve social and normative change for FP/RH outcomes; build on existing activities to test evidence-based practices/interventions in new settings; provide technical assistance for replication and scale up of successful interventions; and monitor and evaluate the impact and sustainability of scale up of evidence-based interventions, including evaluation of current or previous activities funded by USAID or other donors. The award under this APS will contribute to PRH's strategic objective of advancing and supporting FP/RH programs worldwide and health objectives of reducing unintended pregnancies, abortion, and improving maternal and child health. This APS will address two cross-cutting issues for PRH, gender and youth, which are also Agency-wide focal areas as highlighted in USAID's Youth in Development Policy and Gender Equality and Female Empowerment Policy.

This cooperative agreement will establish and maintain an interdisciplinary, multicenter research forum for scientific collaboration and infrastructure building, which will provide national leadership in research designed to improve the behavioral, mental, social, and/or cognitive health and wellbeing of children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. As authorized by Section 399BB of the Autism CARES Act, the research network will determine the evidence-based practices for interventions to improve the behavioral health of individuals with ASD and other developmental disabilities, develop guidelines for those interventions, and disseminate information related to such research and guidelines. The AIR-B Network will be one of two HRSA-supported research networks that will provide national leadership in research to advance the evidence base on effective interventions for children and adolescents with ASD and other developmental disabilities, with AIR-B having a focus on addressing behavioral health and wellbeing. As directed by the FY 2015 Congressional Appropriations for HRSA's Autism CARES Act programs, HRSA is broadening the scope of this funding opportunity to reflect an additional emphasis on addressing disparities in effective interventions and treatment and access to care experienced by underserved minority and rural communities. In particular, applicants should consider diverse ethnic/racial, cultural, linguistic, socioeconomic, and geographic (e.g., rural/urban, tribal) populations for whom there is little evidence regarding the effectiveness of interventions, or for whom access to effective treatments is limited. Applicants should include plans to conduct multi-site research protocols on innovative treatment models, including the use of telehealth networks, to improve behavioral health interventions and treatment for ASD in underserved minority and rural communities. The purpose of the CBPT Project is to reduce social conflict and violence and increase social cohesion and peacebuilding in Guatemala's Western Highlands Region. The project will contribute to Government of Guatemala (GOG) and United States Government (USG) objectives of promoting development, reducing poverty, and reducing irregular migration as per the USG's Strategy for Engagement in Central America and the Plan of the Alliance for Prosperity in the Northern Triangle. CBPT seeks to bring together diverse sectors and stakeholders within communities in the Western Highlands to identify and address the main drivers of social conflict at the familial, community, and municipal levels. The project will seek to address the drivers of social conflict by focusing on four of the general categories of recommendations proposed by USAID/Guatemala's 2015 conflict vulnerability assessment team-youth and families; governance; land; and extractive industries and natural resource exploitation.

CDC plans to fund one organization to raise awareness about the risks of prenatal alcohol exposure and improve understanding about individuals affected by fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASDs) as well as to promote the prevention of FASDs and care of affected individuals. The work will focus on five major activities: (1) maintaining a national resource directory, (2) developing and disseminating information and resources to various audiences, (3) building capacity for state and local affiliates dedicated to services for FASD prevention as well as identification, care, and support for individuals with FASDs and their families, (4) conducting media outreach and media training, and (5) supporting a speakers bureau for enhanced FASD awareness and prevention efforts. The short-term outcomes to be achieved by the end of the project period focus on increased access to local and state-based resources across the country; increased access to accurate information on FASD prevention as well as identification, support, and care for individuals with FASDs and their families; improved linkages between healthcare champions and local affiliates; and increased awareness of the risks of prenatal alcohol use through use of presenters with lived experience.

In line with the GoSA She Conquers strategy/campaign, Implementation of targeted combination prevention solutions and approaches for (AGYW, young Men and adult women) vulnerable high risk priority populations in workplace, schools and community. Provide evidence based interventions including demand creation for uptake of HTS, PrEP, VMMC, condom promotion and distribution, risk reduction, delaying sexual debut for (9-14 year old), family planning, STI, education and linkages to care and treatment. Behavioral interventions include school based (in &out of school), social mobilization and gender norms change and GBV prevention and parenting programs.

The purpose of the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program is to plan and conduct research, demonstration projects, training, and related activities, including international activities, to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration into society, employment, independent living, family support, and economic and social self-sufficiency of individuals with disabilities, especially individuals with the most severe disabilities, and to improve the effectiveness of services. The purpose of NIDILRR’s ARRT program, which is funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to provide advanced research training and experience to individuals with doctorates, or similar advanced degrees, who have clinical or other relevant experience. ARRT projects train rehabilitation researchers, including researchers with disabilities, with particular attention to research areas that support the implementation and objectives of the Rehabilitation Act, and that improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act. ARRT projects must provide advanced research training to eligible individuals to enhance their capacity to conduct high-quality multidisciplinary disability and rehabilitation research to improve outcomes for individuals with disabilities in NIDILRR’s major domain of health and function.

The purpose of the NIH Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) is to provide support and protected time (three to five years) for an intensive, supervised career development experience in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical sciences leading to research independence.
