The Headlands Center for the Arts campus comprises a cluster of artist-rehabilitated military buildings just north of the Golden Gate Bridge at historic Fort Barry in the Marin Headlands, a part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The center's programs support artists in all disciplines - from visual artists to performers, musicians, writers, and videographers - and provide opportunities for independent and collaborative creative work. The center currently is inviting applications for its Artist in Residence program. Through the program, fully sponsored residencies that include a monthly stipend of $500 will be awarded to approximately fifty local, national, and international artists at the cutting edge of their fields whose work has the potential to impact the cultural landscape at large. Residencies run from four to ten weeks and include round-trip airfare, up to 2,000-square-foot studios, five chef-prepared meals per week, access to vehicles as well as basic woodshop; audio/video equipment; an artists' library with computer, scanner, and printer; and field trips to Bay Area museums, galleries, and cultural venues. There is an application fee of $25. Eligible artists may be at any stage their career and work in any media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, interdisciplinary, social practice, and architecture.

The six- to eight-week residency is awarded to women artists at any stage in their careers eager to create new work in any of the studio's disciplines, including intaglio, letterpress, papermaking, screenprinting, photography, or ceramics.

The Prairie Ronde Artist Residency is located in historic Vicksburg, Michigan, near Kalamazoo. The residency provides access to the 420,000 square foot former Lee Paper Company paper mill and its adjacent 80 acres of property to use as inspiration. Artists are also encouraged to utilize our close ties to members of the village community and the area's creative community. We're looking for individuals who are highly independent, engaged and curious. We do not limit our residency to any specific medium but, rather, are looking for people who can creatively interact with the space we have to offer and the community of historic Vicksburg. We provide housing and studio space for one resident at a time, three times a year. We're offering a stipend of $2,000 for 4 - 7 weeks, a $500 travel grant, and use of a car. We ask that the artist propose some sort of community "give back" like a workshop, final show or open studio days and that they donate a piece of work to our collection.

The Hamiltonian Artists Fellowship serves as a steppingstone for visual artists who have an active studio practice and are seeking assistance in creating a sustainable professional art career. The fellowship program seeks to create a stimulating environment for continued artistic and professional growth. Through a comprehensive suite of professional exhibition opportunities, programming, field trips, and one-on-one attention and support, all Hamiltonian Fellows gain valuable insight into the contemporary art market, while learning how to manage and promote their careers. They enjoy heightened visibility and actively grow their professional networks over the course of the two-year program. Fellows are expected to take active roles in their professional development, as well as that of the other fellows in the program while also contributing to the DC art community at large.

Launching in 2020, the Dias Art Prize is a biennial art award for young artists. It is our goal to support talented practitioners in the development of their artistic practice. Every two years we will select an innovative project proposal and fund its execution. The first grant will be awarded in Fall 2020. The applications for this edition will open in May 2020.

The Burke Prize is a contemporary art prize for a new generation of artists working in a world of expanded media with a foundation in glass, fiber, clay, metal, or wood. Selected by a diverse and distinguished jury of curators, artists, and scholars through an open-call application process, the Burke Prize winner receives an unrestricted award of $50,000 and a major exhibition with a select group of finalists at the Museum.

The call for entries is now open for The Bennett Prize, which awards $50,000 to a woman artist to create her own solo exhibition of figurative realist paintings that will travel the country. All women figurative realist painters are cordially invited to submit their work. 

Our Town is the National Endowment for the Arts' creative placemaking grants program. Through project-based funding, we support projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Successful Our Town projects ultimately lay the groundwork for systemic changes that sustain the integration of arts, culture, and design into local strategies for strengthening communities. These projects require a partnership between a local government entity and nonprofit organization, one of which must be a cultural organization; and should engage in partnership with other sectors (such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development). Cost share/matching grants range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount.

Grant applications previously submitted to the Art Works category will now be submitted to the Grants for Arts Projects category. An organization may submit only one application under these FY2021 Grants for Arts Projects guidelines. The Arts Endowment's support of a project may start on or after June 1, 2021. Generally, a period of performance of up to two years is allowed. Grant Program Description "The Arts . . . belong to all the people of the United States" * Grants for Arts Projects is the National Endowment for the Arts' principal grants program. Through project-based funding, we support public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation, the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. Projects may be large or small, existing or new, and may take place in any part of the nation's 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. The National Endowment for the Arts is committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and fostering mutual respect for the diverse beliefs and values of all individuals and groups.

To that end, the organization welcomes applications to its 2020 African American Arts Grants program. According to ArtsWave, diversity in arts and cultural expressions creates a more inclusive and dynamic region, a belief aligned with the Blueprint for Collective Action's goals of deepening the roots of residents and bridging cultural divides through the arts. The ArtsWave Grants for African American Arts program seek to strengthen the capacity for arts presenting, producing, programming, and instruction at organizations led by or predominantly serving black residents of Cincinnati and is one way that ArtsWave is working to increase the sustainability of organizations focused on the preservation and advancement of black arts and culture. The program will support organizations with a mission related to the African American experience and a majority (51 percent or more) of annual expenditures dedicated to arts and cultural activities. Grant requests may not exceed $25,000, and most award amounts will range between $5,000 and $10,000.

The Michael J. Fox Foundation has issued a request for proposals to investigate environmental factors that increase Risk for Parkinson's disease. While some evidence links environmental factors with increased risk of PD, according to the foundation much remains unknown regarding the specific environmental risks, their role in disease, and the quantification of their contributions. A better understanding of environmental risk factors for PD could lead to efforts to reduce or prevent such exposures.

To that end, grants will be awarded to museums and cultural institutions in support of efforts to conserve works of art that are in danger of deterioration, including works that have been designated as national treasures. To qualify for the program, works of art must be significant to the cultural heritage of the country or region, or important to the history of art; on view to the public (or will be on view once conservation is complete); and be a painting, work on paper, photograph, sculpture, architectural or archeological piece, important book or manuscript, tapestry or work of decorative or applied art in danger of deterioration.

Recipients are selected by a diverse group of jurors-artists, curators, professors, writers-based on the strength of the materials submitted in this application as well as the perceived adherence to the spirit of the grant: to assist under recognized artists. Awards include a cash grant, ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 and an exhibition at PAAM. The late Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed studied with Hans Hofmann in both New York and Provincetown. They were very active at PAAM as artist members and instructors in the summer school, and they served on a variety of committees throughout their 50 years on Cape Cod. Orlowsky, in particular, was sensitive to the challenges artists face, especially those working against the mainstream or outside of popular schools of art. Her desire to provide financial support to mature artists through this generous endowment gift speaks to her passionate commitment to art for art's sake and art created regardless of the demands and whims of the market place.

In 2013, Joan K. Davidson, president of Furthermore, established the Alice award to honor her mother, Alice Manheim Kaplan.  Alice loved and collected the illustrated book as a work of art in itself and an essential document of a civilized society. The $25,000 Alice award is given annually to a richly illustrated book that makes a valuable contribution to its field and demonstrates high standards of production. Books selected by the award jury for the Alice Short List each receive $5,000. The award is intended to buttress the kind of slow reading movement that recognizes and cherishes the lasting values of the well-made illustrated book, and the special sense of intimacy it affords. Fields considered include the fine arts and the natural and built environments and related public issues.

The Lighthouse Works' Fellowship is an artist-in-residence program that strives to support artists and writers working in the vanguard of their creative fields. We are proud to have supported these artists, writers, and composers with the time and space to focus on their creative work.   The program accepts artists working in a wide range of disciplines, but we are best able to accommodate visual artists and writers. Fellowships are six weeks in length, occur year round and provide fellows with housing, food, studio space, a $250 travel allowance and a $1,500 stipend. Artistic excellence is the primary criteria for acceptance as a Lighthouse Works fellow.

Creative Capital supports innovative and adventurous artists across the country through funding, counsel, and career development services. Our pioneering venture philanthropy approach helps artists working in all creative disciplines realize their visions and build sustainable practices. Creative Capital provides each funded project with up to $50,000 in direct funding and career development services valued at more than $50,000, for a total commitment of over $100,000 per project. The application for the Creative Capital Awards is open to artists, collectives, and collaborations working in all disciplines through 4pm ET on February 29, 2020.

For over forty years the Roswell Artist-in-Residence Program has provided talented artists a long-term opportunity to free themselves from the entanglements of their jobs, careers and other responsibilities, to focus on their creative imaginations. Roswell is remotely located and provides the artist an opportunity to look inwardly, over an entire year. The Roswell Residency is not project based nor is it directed by the issues of any moment in the world of art ideas. The Program is solely dedicated to the development of the individual artist. The goal of the Program is to be as free of institutional rigmarole as possible. As a consequence, the usual apparatus of prestige, status and reputation are ignored. While the artists that receive the RAiR Fellowship enjoy a reasonable standard of living, most will have to make personal sacrifices to participate. The RAiR Program appreciates that the time, distance and isolation can come at a cost. Those artists who do immerse themselves, undertake a long process of personal discovery.

The U.S. Embassy in Ljubljana, Slovenia announces this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for Slovenian cultural institutions and civil society organizations. The Embassy continues to offer grants for well-designed and managed projects that encourage and promote cultural and artistic cooperation, collaboration and exchange between the United States and Slovenia. The focus of successful projects should be the presentation and promotion of American values, culture, and/or history through art, music, literature, dance, and/or other cultural mediums, to Slovenian audiences. Projects which demonstrate cultural cooperation between Slovenia and the United States that is indicative of the strong transatlantic relationship between the two nations and their people are of particular interest. Typically grant awards range from $3,000 to $5,000 and supplement other funding, though some exceptional projects may qualify for up to $10,000. The deadline for submitting proposals is March 15, 2019. New grantees may be given priority over previous grantees. Funding for cultural grants is decided through a competitive application process, and each proposal is reviewed by an internal embassy committee.

For organizations, our priorities are to: Assist with the production and presentation of significant programs about architecture and the designed environment in order to promote dialogue, raise awareness, and develop new and wider audiences. Support them in their effort to take risks in programming and create opportunities for experimentation. Recognize the vital role they play in providing individuals with a public forum in which to present their work. Help them to realize projects that would otherwise not be possible without our support.

The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches. Program: Fellows are expected to live and work in Provincetown during the fellowship year. Optional group activities provide Fellows with the opportunity to meet program committee members as well as visiting artists and writers. The Stanley Kunitz Common Room is the site of frequent presentations by distinguished guests, as well as readings by writing Fellows. Visual arts Fellows present shows in the Work Center's Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Visiting artists and writers engage in dialogue with Fellows throughout the year. The Fine Arts Work Center also seeks to identify local and national venues for Fellows and former Fellows to share their work.
