The Fine Arts Work Center offers a unique residency for writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers. Located in Provincetown, Massachusetts, an area with a long history as an arts colony, the Work Center provides seven-month Fellowships to twenty Fellows each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Residencies run from October 1 through April 30. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers. A historic fishing port, Provincetown is situated at the tip of Cape Cod in an area of spectacular natural beauty, surrounded by miles of dunes and National Seashore beaches. Program: Fellows are expected to live and work in Provincetown during the fellowship year. Optional group activities provide Fellows with the opportunity to meet program committee members as well as visiting artists and writers. The Stanley Kunitz Common Room is the site of frequent presentations by distinguished guests, as well as readings by writing Fellows. Visual arts Fellows present shows in the Work Center's Hudson D. Walker Gallery. Visiting artists and writers engage in dialogue with Fellows throughout the year. The Fine Arts Work Center also seeks to identify local and national venues for Fellows and former Fellows to share their work.

An organization may submit only one proposal under this program solicitation. This Cooperative Agreement will begin no earlier than January 1, 2020, and extend for up to 24 months. Program Description The National Endowment for the Arts ("Arts Endowment") assists organizations in effectivity incorporating the arts into community development efforts by funding creative placemaking projects across the country. These projects advance local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes by placing the arts at the table with other sectors, such as agriculture and food, economic development, education and youth, environment and energy, health, housing, public safety, transportation, and workforce development. For the last decade, these activities have primarily been supported through the agency's Our Town grant program. In the course of this work, it became clear that many Our Town grantees would benefit from direct, hands-on technical assistance while executing their projects at the local level. In 2016, the Arts Endowment began the Our Town Technical Assistance Pilot Program to provide select Our Town grantees with targeted technical assistance. To build upon the pilot program's success and to further strengthen the field of creative placemaking, the Arts Endowment now plans to develop a more expansive technical assistance program. The Creative Placemaking Technical Assistance Program will serve a wider audience of both prospective applicants to and grantees of the Our Town program, as well other communities interested in undertaking creative placemaking activities. Pillars Fund is dedicated to amplifying the leadership, narrative, and talents of American Muslims. Pillars aspires to put an end to bigotry, xenophobia, and other divisive tactics that keep our nation apart. Support is provided to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States that address the following issues: Rights, with a focus on social and policy change efforts that protect and expand the human and civil rights of us all; Wellness, with a focus on the growth and nurturing of whole, healthy American Muslim communities; and Understanding, with a focus on amplifying American Muslim voices and creating a deeper understanding of American Muslims.

Thanks to generous support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation The Phillips Museum of Art at Franklin & Marshall College invites applications for a one-semester post-doctoral fellowship beginning January 2014. The fellow will teach one course of their own design and develop an exhibition proposal relating to their area of expertise. The successful candidate will be an innovative scholar/teacher/museum professional with a Ph.D. in contemporary art history, with a preferred emphasis on the intersections of science, technology and gender. Must have museum/ gallery experience and at least three years, full-time college-level teaching experience. The candidate will demonstrate an ability to plan and conceptualize exhibitions on contemporary art and culture based on original research, and will possess an active record of professional and scholarly achievement in contemporary art. The position requires a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration and the ability to communicate to a broad audience of faculty, undergraduates, and museum visitors.

Bridging Cultures films will spark Americans' engagement with the wider world through the exploration of countries and cultures outside of the United States, and/or across nations. Films might take a wide range of approaches to international and transnational topics: * an examination of a critical issue in ethics, religion, or history, viewed through an international lens; * an approach to a topic or subject that transcends the idea of traditional nation statehood and explores it across borders; * a biography of a foreign leader, writer, artist, or historical figure; or * an exploration of the history and culture(s) of a specific region, country, or community outside of the United States. Projects must be analytical and deeply grounded in humanities scholarship. We encourage innovative nonfiction storytelling and creative formats that will reach broad audiences. Films must range in length from a stand-alone broadcast hour to a feature-length documentary. Applicants should demonstrate international collaboration by enlisting U.S.-based and non-U.S.-based scholars and/or by working with an international media team.

The Audience Engagement Grant supports photographers to take an existing body of work on a social justice or human rights issue and devise an innovative and effective way of using that work as a tool for social change. We are looking for projects that serve as interventions on pressing problems and provide concrete ways for photographers, organizations, and their target audiences to create a positive impact. We are interested in well-designed projects that: inspire audiences visually and create meaningful interactions with photographic content utilize photography as the basis for programming or tools that move people beyond the act of looking and directly involve them in activities or processes that lead to concrete forms of social change provide deeper, more nuanced understanding of human rights and social justice issues pairs photographers with organizations that are currently working on related issues and connected to the target audience

The ABOG fellowship supports socially engaged projects that promote art as a catalyst for social change; projects that feature artists in leadership roles; dialogue-based projects that emphasize active and sustainable partnerships with communities; and projects in which artists engage community members as equal partners on locally relevant issues, or globally relevant issues as they apply to the local context. Projects in which co-creation with non-artists is part of the process are highly encouraged.

With the movement of art history from a Western-oriented discipline to a global one, this interpretive process-and the terms themselves-must be examined in a new way. Object, value, and canon have different significances in other historical and social contexts. A more diverse integration of understudied visual and archaeological objects necessitates a reassessment of the traditional approach in order to enrich the understanding of the world's artistic heritage. In addition to the global turn, current technological developments present their own challenges to traditional art-historical methodologies. The unlimited accessibility of information confronts the researcher with expansive but unauthoritative resources. High-resolution images open ways to observe and investigate artworks that visits to museums cannot offer. The objects as well as the canon have to be reevaluated in the era of the digital humanities. The Getty Research Institute and the Getty Villa invite proposals from scholars and fellows working in a wide range of individual topics to engage these challenges and address their impact in an international and interdisciplinary environment.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. ArtPlace America invites Letters of Inquiry for our Innovation Grants program from initiatives involving arts organizations, artists and designers working in partnership with local and national partners on place-based strategies that can transform communities. The Innovation Grants program is designed to invest in creative placemaking projects that reach for new possibilities and involve a variety of partners who together are committed to increasing the vibrancy and diversity of their communities. ArtPlace America sees its role as providing venture funding in the form of grants-seeding entrepreneurial projects that lead through the arts, already enjoy strong local buy-in, integrate with a community's economic development and community revitalization strategies, and have the potential to attract additional private and public support to the community. We want to learn alongside those doing this groundbreaking work and spread the lessons they are learning to other communities across the U.S.

Through our publication grants, the Terra Foundation for American Art provides support for publication projects on historical American art (circa 1500 to 1980) that make a significant contribution to scholarship and have an international dimension. "International dimensions" vary by project, but include translations of important texts on American art; publications that are written by non-U.S. scholars or that have a significant number of non-U.S. contributors; and publications with a focused thesis exploring American art in an international context. The grants are designed to advance and internationalize scholarship on American art and provide individuals outside the United States with greater access to resources in the field. Applications will be judged competitively on an annual basis.

Through Our Town, subject to the availability of funding, the National Endowment for the Arts will provide a limited number of grants, ranging from $25,000 to $200,000, for creative placemaking projects that contribute toward the livability of communities and help transform them into lively, beautiful, and sustainable places with the arts at their core. Our Town will invest in creative and innovative projects in which communities, together with their arts and design organizations and artists, seek to: Improve their quality of life. Encourage greater creative activity. Foster stronger community identity and a sense of place. Revitalize economic development.

The foundation seeks to fund projects designed to make a new contribution to the understanding of Chicago's art and design history. This special initiative is in line with the Terra Foundation's core focus on historical American art; projects must be primarily concerned with art and design made before 1990.

Together with University Advancement, the Office for the Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) is rolling out an new crowdfunding platform called HawksNest. Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff. This is how HawksNest works: * Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding. * An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days. * Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects. * Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin! * Project managers use the site to keep donors up-to-date with information on the project's progress.

Grant Program Description "The Arts . . . belong to all the people of the United States" * Art Works is the National Endowment for the Arts' principal grants program. Through project-based funding, we support public engagement with, and access to, various forms of excellent art across the nation, the creation of art that meets the highest standards of excellence, learning in the arts at all stages of life, and the integration of the arts into the fabric of community life. Projects may be large or small, existing or new, and may take place in any part of the nation's 50 states, the District of Columbia, and U.S. territories. We encourage applications for artistically excellent projects that address any of the following activities below: *Honor the 2020 centennial of women's voting rights in the United States (aka the Women's Suffrage Centennial). *Engage with Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs); Hispanic or Latino organizations; or the Native American, Alaskan Native, and Native Hawaiian arts. *Celebrate America's creativity and cultural heritage. *Invite a dialogue that fosters a mutual respect for the diverse beliefs and values of all persons and groups. *Enrich our humanity by broadening our understanding of ourselves as individuals and as a society.

To that end, grants of up to $30,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations to assist with the production and presentation of significant programs about architecture and the designed environment in order to promote dialogue, raise awareness, and develop new and wider audiences; support them in their effort to take risks in programming and create opportunities for experimentation recognize the vital role they play in providing individuals with a public forum in which to present their work; and help them to realize projects that would otherwise not be possible without our support. Overall, the foundation is most interested in opportunities which enable it to provide critical support at key points in the development of a project or career.

As part of that mission, the foundation's Conservation Grants Program provides support for the professional practice of art conservation. Grants are awarded to projects that create and disseminate specialized knowledge, including archival projects, development and dissemination of scholarly databases, documentation projects, exhibitions and publications, with a focus on art conservation, scholarly publications, and technical and scientific studies. Grants are also awarded for activities that permit conservators and conservation scientists to share their expertise with both professional colleagues and a broad audience through international exchanges, professional meetings, conferences, symposia, consultations, the presentation of research, exhibitions that include a prominent focus on materials and techniques, and other professional events.

The Best Buy Foundation seeks to build better futures for youth through technology. To that end, the foundation is inviting proposals for community grants. Grants of up to $15,000 will be awarded in support of equitable, innovative, and impact-driven programs focused on enhancing the lives of youth between the ages of 13 to 18 through technology-enabled curricula. Programs should include hands-on learning opportunities that lead to skills development, engage youth in experimenting and interacting with the latest technologies, and close the digital skills gap; provide teens from underresourced communities with access to innovative technologies and help them become fluent in technological fields while developing skills that better prepare them for future education and career success; and incorporate cutting-edge technology such as computers, digital cameras, video cameras, and professional software, including but not limited to audio production (including music mixing and recording), website development, computer maintenance and repair, UX/UI (user experience/user interface), graphic design and photography 2, cybersecurity, mobile and game app development, 3D animation, programing and coding, virtual reality/ augmented reality, robotics, and green technology.

Funded by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and administered by Creative Capital, the Arts Writers Grant Program was launched in 2006 to support emerging and established writers who engage with issues of contemporary visual art. Through the program, published authors who identify as art historians, artists, critics, curators, or journalists, or who are writers in an outside field and are strongly engaged with the contemporary visual arts, can apply for grants ranging between $15,000 and $50,000. Grants will be awarded in four categories: articles, blogs, books, and short-form writing.
