Rabbit Island Residency programs provide time and space to investigate and challenge creative practices in a wilderness environment. Artists live and work on the island for 2-4 weeks, engaging directly with the landscape, responding to notions of conservation, ecology, and sustainability via their research and cultural practices. The residency reflects on the American continent's four hundred year history of settlement and division of land, and stems from the idea that in a developed society intelligent organization of wild spaces is one of the most civilized things we can pursue. The island itself, an unsettled and undivided space, enables artists to present commentary on these ideas, creating interpretations and solutions to issues of global importance-climate change, loss of natural habitat, the value of pristine watersheds, the environmental implications of entrepreneurship, and so forth. Modern understanding of our natural reality, as well as our cause-and-effect relationship to it, dictates a need for principles worthy of our time. If artists do not create the work that defines this new space, who will? Art is perhaps the purest form of creation, and serves fittingly as a symbol for all human constructions.

The Harpo Foundation's Emerging Artist Fellowship at the Santa Fe Art Institute (SFAI) was established in 2013 to provide an annual opportunity to an emerging visual artist 25 years and older who needs time and space to explore ideas and start new projects.  Artist Fellows will receive a one-month residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute, which includes a handsomely appointed room with private bath, a beautiful, well-lit studio space, and a $500 travel stipend.

Lighthouse Works is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts organization devoted to encouraging the development of artists and the enrichment of the year-round cultural and economic vitality of Fishers Island, New York. To that end, the organization has issued an open call for applications for its spring 2020 fellowship program sessions. Fellowships are six weeks in length and provide fellows with housing, food, studio space, a $250 travel allowance, and a $1,500 stipend. The fellows live together in a farmhouse dating from the late 1800s with a small vegetable garden in the front. Each fellow has a private bedroom and access to a shared bathroom, kitchen, and living space. In addition, Lighthouse Works maintains a wood and metal shop, a Paragon kiln, a black-and-white darkroom, and a letterpress print shop, all of which are available to fellows. While in residence, fellows' primary obligation is the solitary pursuit of their work, though every fellow is asked to participate in an artist talk on the first weekend of the fellowship and to open their studio for an afternoon at the session's conclusion.

The Lighthouse Works' Fellowship is an artist-in-residence program that strives to support artists and writers working in the vanguard of their creative fields. We are proud to have supported these artists, writers, and composers with the time and space to focus on their creative work.   The program accepts artists working in a wide range of disciplines, but we are best able to accommodate visual artists and writers. Fellowships are six weeks in length, occur year round and provide fellows with housing, food, studio space, a $250 travel allowance and a $1,500 stipend. Artistic excellence is the primary criteria for acceptance as a Lighthouse Works fellow.

Bemis offers artists-in-residence unmatched technical guidance, access to interns, and an established network of resources. Participants have the opportunity to create networks, collaborate, and share their work with fellow artists-in-residence, organizational partners, and the public. The Bemis Alumni Program extends artist support beyond their Bemis residency through Alumni Residencies, an annual Alumni Award, and Alumni Convenings.  STUDIOS AND FACILITIES Located in downtown Omaha's historic Old Market, Bemis Center's campus accommodates a broad range of artistic activity. Selected artists-in-residence enjoy generous sized, private live/work studios complete with a kitchen and bathroom and have 24-hour access to expansive installation and production spaces within Bemis Center's 110,000 square foot main facility and the Okada Sculpture & Ceramics Facility, a 9,000 square foot large-scale sculpture fabrication space and workshop. A Bemis residency also includes complimentary laundry facilities, utilities, wifi, and access to an on-site research library. STIPENDS U.S.-based artists-in-residence receive a $1,000 USD monthly stipend and an additional $750 USD travel stipend. Due to the limitations of B2 visas (touring/visiting), international artists-in-residence are eligible to receive reimbursement of qualified expenses, such as airfare, ground transportation, and meals. Bemis Center is not responsible for organizing artist's travel to Omaha to attend the residency. Additional stipends for studio supplies or materials are not available.

The Prairie Ronde Artist Residency is located in historic Vicksburg, Michigan, near Kalamazoo. The residency provides access to the 420,000 square foot former Lee Paper Company paper mill and its adjacent 80 acres of property to use as inspiration. Artists are also encouraged to utilize our close ties to members of the village community and the area's creative community. We're looking for individuals who are highly independent, engaged and curious. We do not limit our residency to any specific medium but, rather, are looking for people who can creatively interact with the space we have to offer and the community of historic Vicksburg. We provide housing and studio space for one resident at a time, three times a year. We're offering a stipend of $2,000 for 4 - 7 weeks, a $500 travel grant, and use of a car. We ask that the artist propose some sort of community "give back" like a workshop, final show or open studio days and that they donate a piece of work to our collection.

T.R.I.B.E. - a new network of residency spaces in the Balkans and East Europe, dedicated to research and production of Transitory Art, launches its first open call for artistic and research residencies to take place between March 2013 and April 2014. TRIBE network aims to examine vital cultural, political and social questions in a way that will produce fresh perspectives via research and artistic outputs. WHAT IS A TRIBE RESIDENCY? A TRIBE residency is a production or research residency for artists and researchers taking place in Ljubljana, Prague, Istanbul, Nicosia & other locations. TRIBE is a network interested in forming a mobile group of artists and researchers to participate in discussions, interventions and innovations related to the first TRIBE theme: Transition & Utopia (more information on the TRIBE theme can be found below). Works produced will be exhibited in two exhibitions taking place in Istanbul and Ljubljana. Common events for TRIBE group, workshops and a symposium for researchers will take place in Nicosia.

Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired

The competition theme is "Blue." Shades, spaces, feelings of blue. Show us what blue means to you. Article submissions are accepted from all writers 18 years and older, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short stories and other written explorations (up to 900 words). There is one Gold Winner cash award, one writer profile award and at least three publication awards. All work is evaluated based on the vision as relates to the submission theme. Submissions including diverse interpretations of the theme will be considered. The beauty of art is that 100 artists can look at the same thing and interpret it in completely unique ways. That's what can make it breathtaking. Share your interpretation and you might win a cash prize, be professionally reviewed, and/or be published in ArtAscent Journal of Art & Literature!

CIRD supports rural communities with a population of 50,000 or less located in a non-metropolitan county or a metropolitan county on the urban fringe. CIRD defines "community" broadly: not just the town center or area within the town boundary, but also the surrounding areas that depend on its goods and services and contribute an economic base, agricultural land or open space, and recreational opportunities. Ability to carry out the logistical and practical preparations for a two-and-a-half workshop (secure a facility for the workshop, provide breakfast and luncheon for participants, provide audio visual equipment, arrange for field trips), including a public engagement event Matching funds (suggested $7,000 in cash or in-kind donations) Support of a local governing body, municipal agency, or other appointed or elected officials, including an expressed willingness of these individuals to serve as official partners and to actively participate in the workshop Support of additional local and/or regional partner organizations and leaders Ability to identify and engage a diverse group of community members as participants in the workshop and follow-up activities Intention and readiness to implement actions emerging from the workshops, participate in the evaluation of the workshop, and report on results

Funding research in the manufacturing space in focus areas identified as major challenges is one way Walmart can facilitate and accelerate U.S. manufacturing. The Fund will achieve this goal through grants that directly support applied research projects advancing innovative solutions to key challenges that, once addressed, can lower the cost of making consumer products in the U.S. The Fund looks primarily at the following criteria: (1) impact on consumer product manufacturing, (2) stage of development and commercial viability, (3) degree of innovation, and (4) ability of the organization and team to successfully carry out the proposed project. Specific eligibility requirements are as follows: 1.      Only U.S. 501(c)(3) organizations and public universities that are instrumentalities of a state government are eligible for funding at this time* 2.     At least 50% of project teams must be based in the U.S. 3.     Project teams should seek sponsorship from the mayor of a USCM mayor when submitting full project proposals 4.     Proposed projects should address a technological innovation that can advance U.S. manufacturing. For the current RFP, we are seeking to support projects reducing the cost of producing textiles and apparel in the U.S. More specifically, we are seeking projects that address: Weaving Fabric dyeing Cut and sew 5.     Projects must have a budget exceeding $100,000 per year 6.     Overhead costs must not exceed 10% of total project budget 7.     Prospective grantees should demonstrate an ability to conduct the proposed product via expertise and/or past experience The Fund is currently not awarding grants for building or capital projects, supplier agreements, or other non-research projects.

The Indian Arts Research Center at the School for Advanced Research offers three artist-in-residence fellowships annually to advance the work of mature and emerging Native artists. Each fellowship includes a monthly stipend, housing, studio space, a supplies allowance, and travel reimbursement to and from SAR. These fellowships provide time for artists to explore new avenues of creativity, grapple with new ideas that they can integrate into their work, and strengthen existing talents. 1) Ron and Susan Dubin Native Artist Fellowship: Dedicated to supporting traditional Native artistry, the fellowship period runs from June 15 to August 15, 2019. 2) Rollin and Mary Ella King Native Artist Fellowship: The King Fellowship is dedicated to preserving the Southwest's rich artistic heritage. Applicants must be from a Native community in the Southwestern United States (Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah) and work in the visual arts. The residency period runs from September 1 to December 1, 2019. 3) Eric and Barbara Dobkin Native Artist Fellowship for Women: The Dobkin Fellowship encourages the creativity and growth of indigenous women artists working in any media. The residency period runs from March 1 to May 31, 2019.

Founded in 1981, the Ucross Foundation in Sheridan, Wyoming, provides uninterrupted time, work space, and living accommodations to competitively selected visual artists, writers, and composers from all over the world. The foundation currently is accepting applications for its 2019 Fall Residency program, which runs from August to December. Residencies vary in length from two weeks to six weeks. At any one time, there are up to nine individuals in residence - a mix of visual artists, writers, and composers.  In most cases, studios are separate from living quarters. Lunch and dinners are prepared Monday to Friday by a professional chef with ample provisions on hand for breakfasts and weekends. In addition, there is cell phone service on the property and several wireless Internet connection sites are available for resident use. Residents are responsible for providing their own working materials and for their travel to Sheridan. While there is a $40 nonrefundable application fee, there is no charge for a residency. Artists, writers, and composers from around the United States and the world, in any stage of their professional career, are invited to apply to work on an individual or collaborative project. The organization's belief is that no artist should have to spend money to accept the opportunity of a fellowship.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Consulate General in Kolkata (PAS Kolkata) seeks proposals for a project entitled "EcoCinema: A Greener World through Art." Under this project, a grantee will organize and implement a two-day film and arts festival in Kolkata followed by a tour in a minimum of three cities, focused on generating awareness on creating a sustainable environment in East India and promoting sustainable environmental practices. The selected grantee will initiate a competition for films (both short and long form) and artworks such as paintings, photographs and murals to be showcased during a two-day long film and arts festival entitled "EcoCinema: A Greener World through Art." Artworks should focus on the natural world, air quality, sustainability, recycling and green practices. Films and artwork will be exhibited in tandem at the American Center and other locations in Kolkata. Unconventional art exhibition spaces, such as universities, public parks, metro stations, are encouraged. Festival promotion should include both tradition and digital media. Established in 1998 through the generosity of the family of painter Richard Diebenkorn - both an alumnus of and longtime faculty member at SFAI - the fellowship provides an opportunity for artists to teach at the institute and have sufficient time and financial support to sustain their practice while doing so in the renowned studio environment of Headlands Center for the Arts. Through its semester-long structure, which includes a residency with studio space at Headlands, the fellowship not only offers each participating artist an invaluable opportunity to further their own practice, it also leaves a deep, lasting impression on SFAI students.

The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is accepting applications for its 2019-2020 Fellowship Program Through the program, stipends of up to $77,500 for one year with additional funds for project expenses will be awarded to individuals working in the creative arts, humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, and mathematics to pursue projects within their fields. In addition, some support for relocation expenses is provided where relevant. In addition to the stipend, fellows receive office or studio space and access to libraries and other resources of Harvard University during the fellowship year, which runs from early September 2019 through May 31, 2020. Visual, film, and video artists may apply for either one or two semesters. In the event that they come for one semester, the stipend is $38,750. Radcliffe Fellows are expected to devote themselves full time to the work outlined in their proposal. Since this is a residential fellowship, fellows are expected to reside in the Boston area during the fellowship period and to have their primary office at the institute to participate fully in the life of the community. The deadline for individual applications in the creative arts, humanities, and social sciences is September 13, 2018. For applications in the natural sciences and mathematics, the deadline is October 4, 2018.
