Summer and Expanded Learning: Supporting school district and other efforts to expand learning time during summer and the school day or year. Arts Education: Expanding arts learning opportunities for children and teens in school and beyond. Audience Development for the Arts: Supporting arts organizations to develop and test ideas for reaching new audiences so that many more people might enjoy the benefits of the arts.

    Arts, Culture & Design in Schools, a charitable initiative of national retailer Target, is accepting applications from schools and nonprofit organizations for programs that bring arts and cultural experiences directly to K-12 students. The company awards grants of $2,000 for programs that enhance the classroom curricula by bringing the arts and cultural experiences to schools via in-school performances, artist-in-residency programs, workshops, and so on. Programs must take place between September 2013 and August 2014. Grants are restricted to K-12 educational institutions and organizations with tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

    The Fender Music Foundation is currently awarding acoustic guitars, electric guitars, acoustic-electric guitars, bass guitars and the equipment necessary to play these instruments. However, other traditional music instruments are sometimes available. Traditional instruments include string instruments, woodwind instruments, brass instruments, percussion instruments, keyboards and voice. These items are lightly used, blemished or otherwise imperfect and have been collected from manufacturers and retailers. DJ equipment and computers are not available through The Fender Music Foundation. Grant Eligibility Criteria The Fender Music Foundation awards traditional instruments only to music instruction programs that are part of 501c3 organizations or public schools in the United States. To qualify as a music instruction program, participants must be learning how to make music. Participants can be of any age. However, music appreciation or entertainment programs do not qualify, and the participants cannot be professional or career musicians. A qualified program must fit into one of these four categories: In-school music classes, in which the students make music After-school music programs that are not run by the school Community music programs, which offer music instruction to community members Music therapy programs, in which the participants make the music In addition, the program must meet the following five criteria: Individuals are not denied participation based on their musical abilities. If the participants pay to participate, the fee is considerably less than the fair market value. The program has been functioning smoothly for at least one year. Each program participant receives music instruction at least once a week for at least eight months per year. (Camps and workshops are not eligible.) With or without a grant from The Fender Music Foundation, the organization is confident that the program will exist for the foreseeable future.

    Applicant organizations for NEA Big Read must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; a division of state, local, or tribal government; or a tax-exempt public library. Eligible applicants include organizations such as literary centers, libraries, museums, colleges and universities, art centers, historical societies, arts councils, tribal governments, humanities councils, literary festivals, and arts organizations. Note: K-12 schools, school districts, boards of education, or other school governing bodies, whether public or private, are not eligible applicants, but may partner with eligible applicants. NEA Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book or poet. Activities focus on one book or poet from the NEA Big Read library.

Foster Performing Arts in Schools - 0 views

    Based on funding availability, this program will provide access to the performing arts for young audiences in order to share Afghanistan's rich cultural heritage with young audiences, inform youth of their legal rights, teach lessons of tolerance, and amplify the voices of marginalized groups. The program will fund two to three organizations that are committed to reviving the performing arts in Afghanistan's public and/or private schools through interactive performances and participatory discussions that will take place in schools in Kabul and at least four other provinces. The target audience will be children under 16. Periodic focus groups with small numbers of attendees will determine how key messages are being perceived and assimilated in order to inform recipients how to continually improve the program.

    The College Board is accepting applications for the 2013 College Board Award for Excellence and Innovation in the Arts. The annual award recognizes the achievements of six member institutions which have implemented an arts program that promotes student learning and creativity in exemplary and innovative ways. One school from each of the College Board's six regions will be awarded $3,500 to support the continuation and growth of their programs. Of the six finalists, one school will be named the national winner and will be awarded an additional $1,500. Regional winners will be honored at their respective College Board Regional Forums; the national winner also will be honored at the College Board National Forum.

    The award recipient must come from an economically disadvantaged household, have attended a public school, participated in extracurricular programs including (an/or in addition to) programs supported by the Americans for the Arts (i.e., demonstrate a long term participation in the study of, creation in and/or performance in one or more art forms, including dance, music theatre, literary, visual/media arts), excelled academically, and  formally declared the intent to study and apply economics in their pursuit of higher education and professional career.  This includes the direct study of economics for policy purposes, to applications in the private and public sectors.  The scholarship is open to both recent high school graduates and current college undergraduates who are majoring in economics and/or the arts.

    Recipients are selected by a diverse group of jurors-artists, curators, professors, writers-based on the strength of the materials submitted in this application as well as the perceived adherence to the spirit of the grant: to assist under recognized artists. Awards include a cash grant, ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 and an exhibition at PAAM. The late Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed studied with Hans Hofmann in both New York and Provincetown. They were very active at PAAM as artist members and instructors in the summer school, and they served on a variety of committees throughout their 50 years on Cape Cod. Orlowsky, in particular, was sensitive to the challenges artists face, especially those working against the mainstream or outside of popular schools of art. Her desire to provide financial support to mature artists through this generous endowment gift speaks to her passionate commitment to art for art's sake and art created regardless of the demands and whims of the market place.

Miami University - M.I.A.M.I WOMEN Grant application - 0 views

    Applicants for the funds may be students or faculty. The project, program, or entrepreneurial idea must be created by, led by or benefit women. Grants are awarded in values of $2500 to $20,000. While we prefer the base grant to be $5,000, we are considering a limited number of $2500 which will be required to show high impact. These applicants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The grants must be submitted online via the link below and must include a 2-minute video. Applicants will be narrowed to a pool of 10-15 finalists by our M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Grants Committee. This committee will review applications; contact applicants if additional information is required, and present the finalists to the M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN Steering Committee and Development Staff. Grant deadline for this year is Feb. 9, 2018. These finalists will perform in a fast-pitch style Hawk Tank event on April 11, 2018. Finalists will be offered fast-pitch training courtesy of the Farmers School of Business - school of Entrepreneurship, and will receive coaching and support. They will then pitch their idea in 5 minutes or less on April 11, 2018 at the event. Giving Circle members are the voters who will determine winners. Absentee voters will be given the option to vote online. Winners will be announced that night or the next day at the Symposium, to be determined.

    The British Journal of Aesthetics (BJA) holds a competition each year open to students on full-time undergraduate or graduate courses at art and design schools or in fine art/design departments in any country to design a cover for the journal, which is published by Oxford University Press (OUP), both in print and online. The overall cover design includes an image, generally a black & white photograph of a sculpture or a detail from a print. It is normally but not necessarily a monochrome image. But winning entries in the competition have varied considerably from this norm. Entries to the competition will consist in a .jpeg or .tiff containing an image (henceforth, the "image"), and a cover design incorporating the image (henceforth, the "design"), which can be assembled using a template that can be downloaded here (the template is available in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop). You will also find the covers of recent issues on this page. The resolution of the image must be at least 300dpi. There is no restriction on the use of colour. The winning entry will showcase the distinctive style of the artist, while remaining consistent with the series of covers as a whole.The winner and runners up of last year's competition can be seen on the BJA website here. The specific brief for this year's competition is to design a cover on the theme 'form and function'.

    The Indian Arts Research Center at the School for Advanced Research offers three artist-in-residence fellowships annually to advance the work of mature and emerging Native artists.
