In 2015 the Plant Conservation Alliance released the National Seed Strategy for Rehabilitation and Restoration: 2015-2020, for which the BLM was a participant and signatory. Also in 2015, the White House released the National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Bees and Other Pollinators. Implementation of these strategies by the BLM includes increasing the availability of genetically and ecologically appropriate native plant seed, and nursery stock for restoration. Within the Mojave Desert Ecoregion over 1 million acres have burned since 2005, severely impacting habitat for the Federally Threatened Mojave desert tortoise. Invasive species infestation have also greatly expanded, in both upland and riparian areas. Genetically and ecologically appropriate native plant materials are needed to combat invasive species and restore native plant habitats on BLM lands, in support of the National Seed Strategy and National Strategy to Promote the Health of Honey Bees and Other Pollinators, and in support of desert tortoise habitat restoration and recovery.

BLM will partner with a recipient to implement goals and objectives of the National Seed Strategy for Rehabilitation and Restoration in California and, in particular, implement Action Item 2.4.2: quantify ecological and economic costs/benefits of planting native and non-native plants on public lands using the InVEST data and software platform developed by the Natural Capital Project and its network. The recipient will work with BLM to develop appropriate studies, education, and outreach projects that meet the goals and objectives of Seed Strategy Action Item 2.4.2 using the approach outlined in the Natural Capital Project. The recipient must be a Natural Capital Project partner and familiar with the InVEST software. The InVEST software platform contains open source data and modeling tools that allow transparency, repeatability, and adaptability to novel local conditions. InVEST applications are designed to become part of the public record, and with training, BLM or others can continue to apply the tools for future assessment and implementation guidance.

The First Nations Development Institute believes that reclaiming control over local food systems is an important step toward ensuring the long-lasting health and economic well-being of Native people and communities. Native food-system control has the potential to increase food production, improve health and nutrition, and eliminate food insecurity in rural and reservation-based communities, while also promoting entrepreneurship and economic development.

The purpose of this program is to assess, develop, and evaluate family maltreatment prevention and treatment programming to support the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) Family Advocacy Program (FAP).

The intended outcome of this FOA is to advance efforts for a nationally integrated food safety system (IFSS) by supporting Manufactured Food Regulatory Program Standards (MFRPS), Rapid Response Teams (RRT) and Food Protection Task Force (FPTF) programs, as well as special projects. California public lands contain diverse natural communities that support a large number of native plants and animals. Nearly 2,096 plants are considered rare, threatened or uncommon and during this time, we have already seen 32 species go extinct in California. With all this great diversity, only about twenty-five percent of the original vegetation remains in a somewhat pristine condition. BLMâ¿¿s resource protection mission, and associated strategic plan, calls for BLM field managers to create habitat conditions that enable biological communities to flourish. The BLM Plant Conservation Program in Southern California includes inventories, seed collections, propagation, monitoring, genetic analysis etc. This project is a cooperation between a Southern California Botanic Garden (that is a member of the Center for Plant Conservation) and the BLM. Working together, we will establish a Seeds of Success program in Southern California, monitor rare plant species, inventory populations, and pursue many more plant-related research opportunities.

he contractor will operate and maintain the 3 new stations according to the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standards appropriate for operation and maintenance of this network (ASCE-EWRI 2005). Teleconnections with the home laboratory will allow daily examination of the sensor outputs. When a significant problem is identified, a site visit will be arranged, to correct the issue within seven (7) days. a. Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) Vermont is looking for eligible applicants to provide assistance with: the organization and function of the East Creek and McKenzie Brook Watersheds Planning Groups (two groups) with the end goal of assisting NRCS and the group with the identification, development and implementation of multiple strategies to increase the implementation of conservation practices on farms within the watershed. Applicants will be responsible for providing overall administration (hiring, supervision and payroll) of staff to provide assistance with the development and implementation of a Watershed Action Plan. Staff hired to provide the identified services will typically be located in the office of the applicant.

The fishery research program consists of a portfolio of funded basic (discovery, descriptive, or hypothesis generation) and applied (descriptive or hypothesis-driven) research organized by theme areas given below. Research theme areas are: Human Dimensions of Great Lakes Fishery Management -- Human dimensions-related issues play a central role in Great Lakes fisheries in terms of values and beliefs, management challenges and desired outcomes, economics, and governance. Fishery objectives often focus on a limited number of ecological and social management goals; this theme aims to expand our understanding of the human dimension of fishery management and help in having that dimension reflected in fishery management practices. Physical Processes and Fish Recruitment in Large Lakes -- TBD. Energy Dynamics of Great Lakes Food Webs -- To understand energy dynamics in Great Lakes food webs and the role of food web members in structuring resilient communities and ecosystems. The Great Lakes Fishery Commission (Commission) grants funds to academic institutions, government agencies, and private corporations through research contracts. A Principal Investigator (PI) for each research project must be designated; the PI must be a permanent employee of the institution receiving the funds who can be held accountable for ensuring the work is completed as outlined in the contract.

The Food and Drug Administration announces its intention to accept and consider a single source application for award to the World Health Organization (WHO) for the Building Research Capacity in Global Tobacco Product Regulation Program. The purpose of the Program is to identify, support, develop, conduct, and coordinate research efforts relating to tobacco control laws and rules in foreign countries that will directly inform and support FDA's exercise of its authority to regulate the manufacture, distribution, marketing and sale of tobacco products in the United States. The Program will advance FDA's Center for Tobacco Products' (CTP's) mission by utilizing the World Health Organization's (WHO) Member States' expertise and extensive international contacts in global tobacco control, as well as WHO's own programmatic expertise, to inform and support adequate manufacture, distribution and market regulations of tobacco products for the protection of public health in the United States. This NSF-BIO, USDA-NIFA and BBSRC Joint Activity is soliciting Early Concept Grants for Exploratory Research (EAGER) proposals to support development of breakthrough ideas and technologies to speed the development for new crop varieties. There remain significant bottlenecks to improving crop varieties even if new traits or natural variants are identified, such as producing hybrids, understanding recombination, and epigenetic inheritance as examples. Translation of basic knowledge to practical outcomes can be accelerated by key emerging technologies that exploit genomics rapidly and effectively. This EAGER opportunity invites proposals to overcome these barriers to crop breeding in highly innovative and transformative ways. Investigators considering this opportunity should articulate how the enabling technologies would be used to improve crop breeding.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), Office of New Drugs (OND), Division of Cardiovascular and Renal Products (DCRP) is announcing its intent to accept and consider applications for the award of a grant to support the Heart Failure Collaboratory

This Commercial Fishing Occupational Safety Research Cooperative Agreement was established by The Coast Guard Authorization Act of 2010 (P.L. 111-281), as amended by the Howard Coble Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Act of 2014 (P.L. 113-281), and is intended to provide funding to individuals in academia, members of non-profit organizations and businesses involved in fishing and maritime matters, and other entities with expertise in commercial fishing safety. The funding will be used to support research on improving the occupational safety of workers in the commercial fishing industry. This includes: improving vessel design; developing and improving emergency and survival equipment; enhancing vessel monitoring systems; improving communication devices, deicing technology, and severe weather detection. In order to support and administer the grant program, the Coast Guard and NIOSH signed a Memorandum of Understanding on May 17, 2018. While the Coast Guard, along with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), provides regulatory oversight for safety and health matters within the commercial fishing industry, NIOSH is an agency operating under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) with the mission of generating new knowledge in occupational safety and health and transferring that knowledge into practice to prevent worker injury, illness and death. NIOSH conducts and funds scientific research, develops methods to prevent occupational hazards, develops guidance and authoritative recommendations, translates scientific knowledge into products and services, disseminates information, identifies factors underlying work-related disease and injury and responds to requests for workplace health hazard evaluations. NIOSH has an extensive history of conducting research to understand and to reduce hazards in the commercial fishing industry.

Through its Foundation for Education and Research on Botanicals program, the association funds research on medicinal, therapeutic, and health-promoting herbs, with a focus on projects that inform and promote best industry practices and contribute to the sustainability of the botanicals and the herbal products industry.

The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) intends to solicit proposals from offerors having the capability to perform the following tasks: (1) cultivate and harvest, process, analyze, store, and distribute cannabis (marijuana) for research, (2) extract cannabis to produce pure and standardized (current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)-grade) cannabis extracts containing varying concentrations of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), (3) isolate cGMP and research grade THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids, (4) periodically analyze cannabis extracts, and isolated cannabinoids for authenticity, purity and stability, (5) develop new methods for growing cannabis plants containing high THC, low CBD; high CBD, low THC; and equal strength of CBD and THC, (6) manufacture, analyze, determine stability, store, and supply marijuana cigarettes, and (7) supply cannabis, cannabis extract, other phyto-cannabinoids, and marijuana cigarettes to research investigators and/or to the NIDA Drug Supply program upon NIDA authorization.
