With this solicitation, NIJ seeks applications for funding of research and evaluation related to abuse, neglect, and exploitation of elderly individuals and residents of residential care facilities. Research proposed may be focused at the State, local, tribal, Federal, or juvenile criminal justice policy, and practice levels.

Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR) is a multidisciplinary field of study that examines the organization, financing, delivery and quality of public health services within communities and the resulting impact on population health. The National Coordinating Center (NCC) for PHSSR and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) seek to expand the evidence base for effective decision-making in public health practice and policy through research that responds to the questions defined in the National Agenda for PHSSR: www.publichealthsystems.org/research-agenda.aspx.  This solicitation is intended to strengthen the pool of researchers available to conduct PHSSR and to build on successful principles and models previously demonstrated in public health and health services research. The awards support mentored, intensive career development through funding, educational experiences and protected time to conduct independent research.

NIHCM Foundation is making up to $150,000 available to support investigator-initiated research with high potential to inform improvements to the U.S. health care system by reducing health spending growth, enhancing quality, and/or expanding access to health insurance and health care services. Projects must advance existing knowledge in the areas of health care financing, delivery, management and/or policy.

As authorized under section 1110 of the Social Security Act, SSA announces the solicitation of applications for a cooperative agreeement to re-compete a Retirement Research Consortium to help inform the public and policy makers about Social Security issues. In the first year, the Consortium will be composed of one or more research centers.

HEALTH OUTCOMES RESEARCH: Outcomes research spans a broad spectrum of issues from studies evaluating the effectiveness of a particular pharmaceutical intervention to the impact of reimbursement policies on the outcomes of care. It also ranges from the development and use of tools to perform patient-based assessments to analyses of the best way to disseminate the results of outcomes research to providers or consumers to encourage behavior change. Outcomes research incorporates a variety of research methods from various disciplines. The application of outcomes research principles in evaluating the design, delivery, and effectiveness of pharmaceuticals includes the following general areas: * Burden of Disease * Comparative Effectiveness Research * Compliance/Adherence * Cost Consequences Analysis * Cost-Benefit Analysis * Cost-Effectiveness Analysis * Cost Utility Analysis * Patient Satisfaction * Patient Preferences * Psychometric Evaluation of Questionnaires (e.g. reliability, validity, etc.)

The Retirement Research Foundation funds research projects that have a regional or national impact on older Americans.  Of particular interest are projects that seek causes and solutions to significant problems facing older adults through support of applied and policy research for which federal funding is not available.

The Distinguished Contribution Award in Applied Gerontology is presented in honor of the memory of M. Powell Lawton to recognize those whose contributions have improved the quality of life of older persons. The contributions being honored include developing or implementing a program, practice, policy, or treatment that has had or will have the great potential to improve the lives of older adults.  The recipient will be presented with a plaque and a cash award of $1,500 at the Division 20 Business Meeting during the annual APA convention in the year the award is received.

The purpose of this FOA is to encourage behavioral and social science research on the causes and solutions to health and disabilities disparities in the U. S. population. Health disparities between, on the one hand, racial/ethnic populations, lower socioeconomic classes, and rural residents and, on the other hand, the overall U.S. population are major public health concerns. Emphasis is placed on research in and among three broad areas of action: 1) public policy, 2) health care, and 3) disease/disability prevention. Particular attention is given to reducing health gaps among groups. Applications that utilize an interdisciplinary approach, investigate multiple levels of analysis, incorporate a life-course perspective, and/or employ innovative methods such as systems science or community-based participatory research are particularly encouraged.

The M. Powell Lawton Award, sponsored by The Polisher Research Institute of the Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life, recognizes outstanding contributions from applied gerontological research that have benefited older people and their care. The award was established to honor the memory of the late M. Powell Lawton, PhD, director emeritus of the Polisher Research Institute and a leading figure in aging research.  The award is presented at the GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting to an individual who exemplifies Dr. Lawton's personal and professional qualities, and whose contributions in gerontology have led to innovations in gerontological treatment, practice or service, prevention, or amelioration of symptoms or barriers. Individuals who have influenced public policy changes or demonstrated leadership in defining and implementing a creative program that led to improvement in the lives of older persons are also eligible. The awardee receives a $2,500 cash prize and certificate, and presents a lecture at the GSA's Annual Scientific Meeting the following year.  In addition, if the awardee has no support for attending the meeting, up to $1,000 can be made available for travel and per diem expenses.

The Center for Retirement Research sponsors the annual Steven H. Sandell Grant Program for scholars in the field of retirement research and policy. The program is funded by the U.S. Social Security Administration to provide opportunities for scholars from all academic disciplines and senior scholars working in a new area to pursue cutting-edge projects on retirement income issues. Priority areas include: * Social Security * Macroeconomic analyses of Social Security * Wealth and retirement income * Program interactions * International research * Demographic research

The Arthritis Foundation is requesting letters of interest (LOI) for research projects that show promise to achieve a faster cure for arthritis and related diseases. The LOI will inform the development of a new Scientific Strategy to be announced in November 2014 and a Request for Proposals (RFP) to be released in December 2014. The Arthritis Foundation is particularly interested in research regarding fact-based metrics to guide actions and policies to improve the health of people across the lifespan with arthritis and related diseases; expediting movement between basic research to patient-centered research to population-based research to point of care; and improving clinical decision-making and health outcomes at point of care through the use of new products, tools, and technologies for people across the lifespan with arthritis and related diseases.

The William T. Grant Scholars Program is for early-career researchers in the social, behavioral, and health sciences. We encourage Scholars to tackle important questions that will advance theory, policy, and practice for youth. Applicants identify new methods, disciplines, or content they want to learn, and propose five-year research plans that foster their growth in those areas.

The Borchard Foundation Center on Law & Aging underwrites an Academic Research Grant Program to further scholarship about new or improved public policies, laws and/or programs that will enhance the quality of life for the elderly. Each grant recipient is required to publish an article on the subject of their research in a top flight journal.

This FOA invites Research and Development Center (P30) grant applications in demography, economics and health services research relevant to Alzheimer's Disease and Alzheimer's Related Dementias (AD/ADRD). Areas of focus that are especially encouraged are: a) national and international population trends in cognitive aging and AD/ADRD; b) demography of dementia care and caregiving; c) economic burden of AD/ADRD; d) impact of health care systems and long-term supports and services on outcomes for persons with dementia and their care providers; e) impact of health care financing policies on outcomes for persons with dementia and their care providers; f) how regulatory and economic incentives affect access, quality and health outcomes in health and long-term care systems for persons with dementia; g) disparities in quality and access to dementia care; h) effects of population-level health delivery and care interventions on outcomes of persons with dementia; and i) national and international projections of dementia caseload, incidence and prevalence. Center grant applications must include two mandatory Cores and may choose among three optional Cores. Centers are required to work collaboratively with the Coordinating Center to be funded via RFA-AG-20-003.  

This funding will support agencies and organizations that coordinate and manage Maternal Mortality Review Committees (MMRCs) to identify and characterize maternal deaths for identifying prevention opportunities. Recipients will identify pregnancy-associated deaths within one year of death; abstract and enter clinical and non-clinical data into a standard data system [Maternal Mortality Review Information Application (MMRIA)], conduct multidisciplinary reviews, and enter committee decisions in MMRIA within 2 years of death. Quality assurance processes, in partnership with CDC, will be used for improving data quality, completeness, and timeliness. Recipients and CDC will analyze data and share findings with stakeholders to inform policy and prevention strategies to reduce maternal deaths.

One of the premier foundations dedicated to improving the standard and quality of life for adults age 65 or older, the Retirement Research Foundation advocates for the inclusion, prosperity, connection, and voice of older Americans. In support of this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for projects in aging through its Responsive Grants program. The foundation accepts applications in a number of categories, including direct service projects dedicated to improving community programming; support services, education, and care quality and coordination aimed at enhancing the quality of life of older adults; advocacy projects that work to advance policy issues through collaboration; professional education and training projects that improve the skill sets and proficiency of professionals who care for older adults; and research projects that explore both the causes and tangible solutions of the myriad issues facing older adults.

SSA seeks applications in support of the RDRC that will continue to serve as a national resource fostering high quality research on matters related to retirement and disability policy. The Consortium may consist of one or more research "centers" - research organizations, universities, and associations of research organizations and universities in the United States that may include affiliates at other research institutions

The foundation will consider policy/advocacy projects in the areas of the built environment, transportation, housing, social and civic participation and inclusion, employment, communication and information, and community support and health services. Projects should be collaborative, involve participants from all arenas, and advance communities toward achieving age-friendly status.
