With this tool, you can take a portion of a YouTube video, add your own materials and then use for teaching. [So those of you working in schools with YouTube blocked, this is a great work around.]
Is YouTube blocked inyou school? Here's a 'video catcher' that allows you to capture and use later. It's a good work around for blocking. In my opinion, too many schools block YouTube when there is good content to be found (though there's a lot of junk as well).
SafeShare.tv -- you can view YouTube videos without displaying the related videos and associated comments. Justsimply copy the url of a YouTube video and paste it into SafeShare.tv. Free, of course.
KeepVid (free) allows you to download videos from many places (including YouTube, Flickr, TED, Vimeo and more) and then show in your classroom. It's free--you choose whether mac, PC, mobile, etc and the download. It really addresses where some schools 'block' all YouTube or there are buffering issues. I tend to use the mp4 version, but you have choices of file type too.
Want to share just a bit of a YouTube video, here's a free online option that allow you to select the pieces you want. Looks helpful. I poked around--fairly easy to use.
