NY Times Article on the value of technology in schools. Since digital literacy is critical for participation in 21st Century, I am not sure I buy their argument regarding the tie in to stagnant scores--assessments don't really do a good job of measuring digital literacy (thought Donald Leu and colleagues have certainly made strides in teh area). Nevertheless, a good piece to read.
Cybersafety and more--very sensible blog. Rather than hiding behind AUPs (Acceptable Use Policies) and blocking of websites, this blog takes a broader view.
For those of you at NYSRA who Donald Leu on 4/5/11, I think he'd like this blog entry.
Article discusses the importance of good teaching and how technology enhances students' learning, but teaching kids to think deeply or critically has to be encouraged. Worth a read.
Department of Education--information on not blocking websites. A must read for educators (and to forward to those in control of 'unblocking' websites!)
Qrcodes (really just bar codes) will make it easy to make sure our students (and others) connect immediately with the item we want--no more searching through a class website. Looks interesting.
