A guide for a film made by PBS about Zimbabwe, particularly Mugabe's relationship with white Africans. From page 8 onwards, it gives a brief history of Zimbabwe's colonial history, discusses the land distribution in Rhodesia, and the land reforms undertaken by Mugabe. It is particularly useful for assessing the challenges in the formation of modern Zimbabwe, but focuses on the period from 2000 onwards.

Gives a brief history to the background of Zimbabwe, as well as its fight for independence. Focuses on Mugabe's land and economic reform. Also includes "discussion questions". I think this article would be good for some background information, or as a pre-reading.

A profile of Zimbabwe...as the title suggests. A timeline that details Zimbabwe before the Settlers arrived as well as when they came and the important events in the history such as the Land Apportionment Act, which restricts black Africans the access to land ownership. And many more

After Nehru (3/3) - Perry Anderson - London Review of Books - 0 views

The last in a trilogy that gets critical about the history of Indian independence. This article gnaws into the sinews of the modern Indian state - it lashes out at Congress' failure to tackle these problems head-on has leongress' "Hindu confessionalism", centralism and authoritarianism under Nehru's name, secularization-only-in-name, glorious fuckups in IJK and Nagaland, the genesis of Indian political dynasties, the Emergency, how politics has reinforced caste (although robbed it of much meaning). It seems almost expected coming from his point of view - eh can't help but be jaded. Magnificent, magisterial, etc etc etc. Very, very informed - but what does he do with it? His other stuff is survey stuff (standard 20th century topics), but he seems relatively intelligent. I'm not sure what his biases are, though.
