In the spring of 2010, I decided to introduce Evernote as a research tool to a group of 10th grade Literature/Composition students at my school. I chose Evernote because these students (part of a learning and technology integration program), were preparing to start a research project using multiple sources of information, including database articles, web-based news stories, videos, photos, and interviews. For their research, students were not only using a wide range of information sources, but they were also creating multigenre learning artifacts, such as VoiceThreads, artwork, videos, poetry, and other representations of their key learnings.

What is the Comprehension Task Maker? The Comprehension Task Maker is a program that can be downloaded and installed on your computer. Once installed, you can use the Comprehension Task Maker to create your own customised interactive multimedia comprehension tasks. When creating a comprehension task there are two main componants: * The information for comprehension * The questions the player must complete to show they understand the information provided. Questions can be either multiple choice or True - False. Because you decide on the information and questions, you can create tasks for any level and for any topic. Tasks can be made in any language using any script. Finished tasks are saved as webpages and can be used for any non commercial purposes. They can be copied onto the school network, a memory stick to share with others. Tasks can be linked to the schools intranet or ineternet site, or included in a blog.

The Performing Arts in Art curriculum explores works of art in the J. Paul Getty Museum's collection that depict subjects related to music, dance, theater, and storytelling. This interdisciplinary curriculum engages students in diverse topics in the disciplines of visual art, performing arts, history, and language arts. A variety of visual, musical, kinesthetic, and linguistic activities address the multiple ways in which students learn and provide new lenses for exploring historical events, mythological stories, and artistic traditions. Lessons in this curriculum address such questions as: How have the roles of performing and visual artists within society changed over time? How have musicians, actors, dancers, and storytellers been depicted in works of art, and what do such depictions reveal about the historical eras in which they were made? How do works of art convey the nuances of stories that have been passed down through oral tradition since the time of antiquity? One goal of KidPad is to enable children to create non-linear stories to express their thoughts visually, in a more natural way than linear storytelling allows. KidPad supports collaboration between children because it can be used with multiple mice on the same computer. Certain tools in KidPad encourage collaboration because they enable two children to perform a task that they would be unable to perform alone. For example, if a child wants to draw in orange she must work with another child. There is no orange crayon but if the red and yellow crayons are put together the colors mix and two mice can draw in orange.
