iPad Multimedia Tools for Creativity, Collaboration, and Publication This seminar will cover some of the best audio, photography, and video apps for use in education. There will be hands on opportunities to learn to use a variety of apps. Examples of creative and collaborative ways to use the iPad i learning will be shared along with suggested ways to publish student work.

As I reflect on the various free social and web 2.0 education tools that I come across on a daily basis, there is one product that is always in the forefront of my mind. That product is glogster.edu, a site in which students (and teachers and administrators too!) can create online multimedia posters (called "glogs"). Using the term "online multimedia poster" doesn't even begin to describe the transforming power this product has for students and teachers though. There are many benefits of using Glogster for education.

This Digital Literacy Toolkit began with the premise that multimedia authoring, which is happening with the extensive use of PowerPoint in classrooms, must be taught as a skill, just as traditional text-based writing is taught. While teachers and students have become familiar with the technical skills required to use images in multimedia productions, they lack a critical language to determine whether an image or a sound is used appropriately.
