  • Les soldats américains sur le terrain ont été autorisés vendredi 26 février par le Pentagone à utiliser librement Twitter et Facebook et à tenir des blogs.
  • Cette décision fait suite à une étude menée pendant sept mois par le ministère américain de la défense pendant laquelle il a pesé les avantages et les inconvénients d’autoriser l’accès permanent aux réseaux sociaux et à l’expression sur Internet aux militaires engagés pour certains dans des conflits.
  • Pour éviter toutefois de mettre en danger les opérations et les soldats ou quand l’accès à la bande passante de communication est limité, le Pentagone permettra aux commandants sur le terrain de couper l’accès pour un temps restreint à Internet. Cette décision permettra aussi d’uniformiser les comportements en fonction des unités et des armes.

  • Le site de micro-blog est resté inaccessible un peu moins d'une heure vendredi matin, après un détournement de DNS. Une revendication d'une mystérieuse «cyber armée iranienne» est brièvement apparue.
  • «Les Etats-Unis pensent qu'ils contrôlent et gèrent Internet, mais ce n'est pas le cas, nous contrôlons et gérons Internet par notre puissance», expliquait un message dont plusieurs sites proposent des captures, qui se félicitait d'avoir placé le site «sous embargo».
  • Twitter avait déjà été victime d'une attaque cet été, qui aurait été lancée cette fois depuis l'Europe de l'Est. Cette fois, tous les regards se tournent vers l'Iran, alors que le réseau avait pris une place importance pour relayer les manifestations des opposants à la réélection de Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Les élections en Iran ont d'ailleurs été le sujet le plus populaire de l'année sur Twitter.

"The Internet cannot be free!" he proclaimed. Since he has taken six television channels he didn't like off the air and imprisoned reporters, who knew what he would do?

  • Less than eight months later, the seed planted in those anti-Obama Google groups has burst into flower on the streets of Washington.   • Matt Kibbe, who heads FreedomWorks, a national conservative group that led the push behind last Saturday's rally, goes further. He says that the movement has stolen from Obama the techniques he used to such effect last year and is now redeploying them as a stick with which to beat the president.
