This article describes the increased use in the eLearning industry to HTML5 as an authoring tool. Moving away from things like Adobe Flash has allowed new opportunities and avenues of creation possibilities to content developers. HTML5 has wide support across many different browsers and LMS platforms which makes the use of HTML5 an easy transition/addition. HTML5 does, however, have difficulty working with older browsers such as IE8. Using authoring tools such as Adobe Captivate 9 and Articulate Storyline makes HTML5 easy to use.

Lucidchart is a great mind-mapping tech tool that can be used for content creation, group work, asynchronous AND synchronous communication! If you're looking for an "elective" or any of the other categories I just mentioned to round out your "scrapbook," this is one you might want to check out!

Great tools for student to create in the online course.

I have been a longtime fan of Robert and his work on grading, flipped learning, and integration of technology into the classroom.

I prefer GameMaker: Studio for my students and myself professionally, but it's nice to see competing products.

Deciding whether to create your own content or access existing content will depend on a variety of factors. You will want to consider whether this course is to be accessed by a small or large number of students, over what timescale (will revisions be necessary?), will it be within one programme or across several, one institution or shared amongst many, and is the content culturally specific or to be made available globally.

This is a fun site that you can use to create a cartoon. I have used this for my teach back and it has received great reviews. Takes some time to get acquainted with it. But for those that likes a creative side of presentation, here it is.
