The Faculty Summer Institute (FSI) is a three-day conference that brings faculty members and instructional-technology professionals together each May at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Attendees come from across Illinois and as far away as Canada. The conference features keynote presentations, networking, and hands-on training on the use of modern communication and information technologies in higher education.
This is the site for the digital publication site that won the 2019 Open Publishing Awards "Open Publishing Model" award. The publications in the site are from the AFRO PWW series of the Illinois Open Publishing Network.

All kidding aside, this list describes the characteristics we need to be successful online learners and what qualities our students need to remain successful in our classes.
Like the facilitator, the online student possesses unique qualities. The online students of today consist primarily of working people who are trying to better their opportunities. This however is changing, as more and more young and older people become aware of the online model.

Not only has the class been very helpful, but the ION Web page gives me much information on sample rubrics, and many other ideas on instructional strategies as I continue to enhance my teaching abilities in my online classes.
FREE webinars include collaboration technologies, Merlot Introduction, and ePortfolios in the Cloud. Resources include Sloan Semester Archives that tell the story of how "Using online learning, colleges and universities from across the country responded in record numbers to help students and institutions impacted by the storms. Dubbed "Sloan Semester" the initiative provided free online courses to students impacted by Katrina and Rita storms." Here you can identify more benchmarks in a useful case-study of how Institutions committed to online learning were transformed to leverage learning resources in a time of need. I know that Illinois schools looked at Elluminate when H1N1 was an active global pandemic.
This is a really neat tool for lecturing online. Basically pretty low-tech but with a super futuristic look. And the media team is hilarious, of course.
This course site and presentation will illustrate how the "Seven Principles of Good Practice in Undergraduate Education" (Chickering and Gamson, 1991) can be supported using the features of Blackboard Learn. Several online course design rubrics will also guide our showcase of quality instructional design options related to course structure, navigation, activities, assignments (individual and group), and communication. "Seven Principles of Good Practice in Undergraduate Education" (Chickering and Gamson, 1991), states a quality teaching and learning environment is one that: (1) Encourages contact between students and faculty, (2) Develops reciprocity and cooperation among students, (3) Encourages active learning, (4) Gives prompt feedback, (5) Emphasizes time on task, (6) Communicates high expectations, and (7) Respects diverse talents and ways of learning.
The particular workshop recording that interests me is the one on using peer review options for online teaching. This is something I'm trying to incorporate more of, and it was helpful to hear about how other teachers incorporate it into their courses!
Teaching literature with data visualization tools. A project resulting from the collaboration of the University of Texas at Arlington's Data CAVE directed by Peace Williamson and Kenton Rambsy. The project uses three AfrcGIS Maps, four Tableau Public visualizations, and metadata from "The Edward P. Jones Dataset."
