How true - how hard is it to say "i'm not sure - i'll get back to you?" This happens a lot at work when appointments are sent out for meetings. People don't accept, don't decline, don't comment, so you have no idea who is going to be at the meeting. Courtesy, people!
If I don't have tIme to respond wIth two sentences, what am I doIng checkIng emaIl?
Terrific argument - if you don't have time for quick responses, you should be spending your time doing something else. Don't check your email with no intention of returning any communication. That's worthless.
I really enjoyed the artIcle. It answered one of my 5 wIsh lIst. To know there are so many tools Is excItIng but yet scary. I can not waIt to use the new tools.
It sets the tone for academIc structure and decorum In the classroom whether local campus or onlIne.

There are benefits to newsrooms using solutions-based journalism, but it is not a cure-all for audience engagement. Read more -> The Engaging News Project provides news organizations research-based techniques for engaging digital audiences in commercially viable and democratically beneficial ways.
i like this site to share with my students because they learn about new ways to learn about the new happening in major fields. My course is a research course, and i want my students to explore more things in there field. What ever it is that they want to be, this will give them an opportunity to learn about the new trends.
Product blurb: Looking for fast and easy mailing lists? Get stylish, effective results in 5 minutes or less.
Personal experience: i have found these posters to be great for interactive review materials and enrichment. it's a quick way to organize anything you can post using Google Docs (so Google Forms (quizzes), Slides, etc...), websites, images, YouTube videos, etc... and the first 5 or so posters are free. The best part is it is very user-friendly. i highly recommend trying it out!
"Nobody makes an IRC channel for no reason. Who are we doIng thIs versus?" - topIc of #slatestarcodex I. Some old news I only just heard about: PETA Is offerIng to pay the water bIlls for needy DetroIt famIlIes If (and only If) those famIlIes agree to stop eatIng meat.
You'll feel like a superhero.
The above comments are from Padlet's hype...but i recently learned about this tool for collaboration at a conference. it seems to be a wall where you can collaboratively post things. You do not need to sign up for an account to use it.
From the little i've used it, it seems worth exploring.

This article describes five different types of online cheating - plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, misrepresentation, and misbehavior. This article then goes in to three areas - Policing, Prevention, and Virtue integration. For each of these topics there are multiple bullet points listed which help provide guidance and possible solutions to the issues. This is a very valuable link and i have bookmarked it as a future resource for reference.
There are distinctions between traditional face-to-face and online teaching and learning. Academic policies must address both contexts. As technology evolves, academic policy and practice change may be needed at the micro and macro levels to ensure quality education--in-person and from a distance. Sample policies included.
I need to read thIs artIcle a lIttle closer. We are offerIng our fIrst fully onlIne language courses for Elem and Interm SpanIsh thIs summer. Although the grad students teachIng thIs course wIll make the same amount of salary as those teachIng the hybrId classes, I have a feelIng they wIll be spendIng a lot more tIme on It. And then, we have to be careful If they go to theIr unIon about the dIfferences In compensatIon.
You can lead a student to knowledge, according to an old academic saying, but you can't make him or her think. i recently wrote about the possibility of testing and certification for what i called a "college-level GED."
Another blog from the Carnegie Foundation. i think that this site is a must read and bookmark for any instructor who is interested in the triple aims of educational improvement:
- improving education for all students
- effective in advancing learning
- and efficient in its use of resources.
