Defense in Pakistan has always been allocated a significant portion of the budget - a sum much higher than that allotted to education and healthcare. Since the lower strata of the Pakistani army largely consists of people who belong to uneducated rural families, the Pakistani army has developed world renowned training programs that not only teach soldiers the art of warfare but basic language, communication, mathematics, science and technical skills. As a result of this rigorous training, Pakistan's infantry is regarded is amongst the best trained in the world.
