Today's Libra full moon is helping out with the official release of my new song "Palisandros" (meaning "Rosewood", one of the main kinds of tonal wood used in traditional instrument-making), which I have been procrastinating for some time now, because of how vulnerable and exposed it makes me feel in a lot of many different ways. First and foremost, singing in my native Cypriot dialect; this is the first song I have written in Cypriot. It brings tears to my eyes every single time. Partly I know why; partly I am waiting to explore.. Secondly, there is nothing fancy about this recording; yet the story is interesting: I conceived the melody 3 years ago while rehabilitating from a knee surgery and being hosted in Greece by my dear friend & exceptional guitarist Bill Stathopoulos, I wrote the lyrics while trying it on the piano of my brilliant songsister Arianna Tondo ヅ in Italy, I recorded it with special creature's Benjamin Hedengran Andersen classical guitar in a soundproofless hut in India, I used the chimes, rattles, cajon and djembe belonging to multi-talented musician and top-notch father David Esteban, while shooting the video in the wilderness of the Philippines with charismatic and tribal soulsister Dona Tumacder-Esteban, finally mixing and producing it in the company of my dogs in Cyprus. Lastly, I would like to dedicate this song to mother Earth and the four elements. And I would like this song to be a reminder to all of us: That no matter how tough people wish to look on the outside, remember there is a soft, tender and sensitive part somewhere deep inside them, that got trapped there for one reason or another. By all means, it wants to come out. If only we give it a chance, it wants to come out. And each one of us can help somebody else bring their trapped part out and breathe again anew. On 23rd December 2018, a group of friends & strangers, students & teachers, Europeans & Indians, got together for an experimental, sacred, high-energy JAMily concert at a vegan restaurant in Varanasi, India. This is an excerpt of our language of music! At minute 7, on a totally different context, I was inspired to lay down some vocals with lyrics from the Cypriot traditional song "Ela korou na doume ta mavra sou ta mathkia". The video includes our journey from the guesthouse to the venue with our instruments and our smiles, through holy Ganga river! Besides our Indian Classical Music studies with our masters during our stay in Varanasi that month, we were inspired to put forward a methodological tool, called THE ELEMENT KEY SYSTEM, which is essentially a sign language for musicians to use in order to conduct one another while improvising with music; and expanded to applications to life itself! The "Life of a Rose" is a song dedicated to Mary Magdalene. It was channeled by Marlia Coeur inspired by the red heart spot she found one day in Tegalalang area in Bali, Indonesia. She is live looping with her #godin guitar and #boss #RC202 #electroharmonix #tcelectronics #freeze guitar effects pedals and recording live with #recorder Zoom H6. Everything is powered by a power bank (no electricity socket in the middle of Bali jungle!) She is wearing an in-ear piece because there is no speaker, this is the only way she can hear the effex pedals, the voice's reverb and the loop station to be able to sync along. "Life of a Rose" is the first channelled song/prayer of a new series of in-situ improvisations (part of Marlia's Earth Gridding New Earth project). If you don't have a clue what that is, please look up and read more about leylines and Earth portals. There are high vibrational healing places around the Earth which work together as energetic vortexes, forming a grid around the planet to keep everything on Earth in balance. This Bali spot gave Marlia a transmission from Mary Magdalene and the power of Grace through the Life of a Rose. The lyrics which came through are: "The Life of a Rose emanates Grace from your Heart Maria" The song celebrates the Divine Feminine within all of us. The rose carries the meaning of purity, passion, transmutation, completion, of consummate achievement and perfection in addition to being an ancient symbol of joy. The Rose was also used by Mary Magdalene in a sacred anointing ritual dating back to ancient Egypt. Moments like this are meant to be shared and remembered. On 16/6/2022 we were appointed by PuraVida Festival (Kaya, Yoi, Julia, Walker and myself Marlia) to hold a cacao ceremony circle (one of the biggest ones of approx. 400 people) with sacred songs as part of the opening/welcoming first night of the festival. This is what came through after opening the 4 cardinal directions, calling in Mother Earth, Father Sky, Spirits of this Land, Guardians, Masters and Spirit of Cacao.
