This is is a very important study from the U.K. and Office of Standards in Education in 2009 entitled "The Safe use of new technologies" showed that where provision for e-safety was outstanding all used 'managed' systems to help pupils to become safe and responsible users of new technologies." This is being cited EVERYWHERE. Take a look.

"Imagine hundreds of thousands of great short videos, and other media, explaining every topic taught to school kids. Imagine them rated and sorted into a giant Directory, making them simple to find. WatchKnow--as in, "You watch, you know"--is a non-profit online community devoted to this goal. "

explore - cultural and educational films and photos - 1 views

Explore is an excellent site for getting great educational videos. This site reminds me a lot of United Streaming but free. Once a person finds a video they are interested in they can either download it to their computer or view it on the web. These videos fall into different categories such as: environmental, human rights, health, philosophy, etc etc. Another great feature is that the films are broken down by grade level and there is a great photo area as well!!

Life on the Screen: Visual Literacy in Education | Edutopia - 0 views

"When people talk to me about the digital divide, I think of it not being so much about who has access to what technology as who knows how to create and express themselves in this new language of the screen. If students aren't taught the language of sound and images, shouldn't they be considered as illiterate as if they left college without being able to read or write?"

Book talks with a twist. This could be fun to do with the Trailer projects in iMovie. Easy to add your own voice and all can be completed on an iPad.

A Quick Guide to 21st Century Critical Thinking Skills for Educators - 1 views

  •
Enokson has created for us a kind of road map containing all the major critical thinking skills we need to know about. He put these skills into an image that you can download from Flicker. I have, however, took his image and turned it into an infographic-like embeddable HTML code to use on your website or blog. Check the code below if you want to embed it on your blog but please if you are to use this link anywhere else online make sure to pay credit to Enokson.

Parent road maps to share; highlights what should be learned, what we are learning, and what we need to be prepared to learn next.

I like the analogy of a road map when communicating learning to parents and students. This would be a very powerful exercise for all.
