This helped me a little, thanks The purpose of Confucianism would be uphold people's morals socially, politically and philosophically. Confucianism stresses filial piety (respecting ancestors), education (civil service exams) as well as relationships (towards elders, friends, siblings etc).

Confucius (Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy) - 3 views

  •
Confucius (551-479 BCE), according to Chinese tradition, was a thinker, political figure, educator, and founder of the Ru School of Chinese thought. His teachings, preserved in the Lunyu or Analects, form the foundation of much of subsequent Chinese speculation on the education and comportment of the ideal man, how such an individual should live his life and interact with others, and the forms of society and government in which he should participate.

This is a really great website for anyone doing the Silk Road. It provides excellent detail about what was traded along the Silk Road and the problems the merchants faced while travelling along it. The website also explains that the Silk Road was much more than a trading route. Finally, the website explores how the Silk Road was developed and how the trade along it declined
  •

Confucianism: The Way of Self-Cultivation by Paul Peterson - 2 views

  •
Confucius may well be one of the most influential philosophers in history. Born as K'ung Fu Tzu in 551 BCE during the Chou dynasty, Confucius, as he was later known, taught through the power of example and by acts of benevolence. The following interview was conducted with a noted Confucian scholar who asked that his name be withheld.

Why was silk important in ancient china - 2 views

  •
Silk was discovered around 30 BC in Ancient China. They made it from silkworm cocoons by unwinding them and then weaving them into clothes. They usually made the traditional robe that was popular for daily wear at that time, and the robe is now more commonly ceremonial dress attire.

Legalism and the Legalists of Ancient China - 2 views

  •
Legalism was a philosophy of administration in ancient China. Upon first acquaintance with this system it seems no more than a rationalization by political administrators for their having total political control of their societies. This website is very helpful about the purpose and origin of Legalism
  •
This website was very helpful in the explanation of the introduction of legalism. It is very clear about the way the government adopted Legalism and helped me clarify my information about how legalism arose through the Warring States period and its main purpose.
