The third largest Lutheran church organization in America with membership around 400,000.  Our training efforts support users here at the headquarters building in Milwaukee as well as across the US and the world. Our Moodle site is WELS.net University.  We have been using Moodle for about a year and a half to support primarily our technology system training efforts.  We do a lot of in-person training classes on our custom systems and post companion support materials online in Moodle.  In addition, we have been developing stand alone training modules for web based training.  Finally we have made use of the forum tool in Moodle as a communication vehicle for our various system user groups.  I elaborated on this in another forum post. Twitter has great forums for teachers

Moodle comes replete with blogs, forums, RSS feeds, wikis and more that enable it to be seen as an "absolute good" that opens the door, that enables powerful ideas to slay the fears our IMHO - slay the fears that leaders hold. In many schools, it can become the technology that ensures communication, collaboration, and global learning do become the predominant learning task, without losing that academic focus.

After several interupted weeks I have finally completed the upto date version of  my Moodle for Teachers:- An Illustrated Guide, this time for Moodle 2.0.Moodle 2.0 for Teachers:- An Illustrated Guide, is designed to be a guide for users of Moodle 2.0.What will you learn from the manual?  * Create and manage course content through adding files, resources, linking to resources, creating and linking to a variety of activities.* Create quizzes and assessments.* Create and run forums and blogs within Moodle.* Embed multi-media, social media; modify blocks to make your Moodle site more dynamic and webpage like.* Create pedagogic sound courses.* This is all facilitated by the use of an illustrated guide using actual screen shots.

Moodle is not going to support 1.9x and earlier versions after the end of this calendar year.

Journal is dead - long live online text assignment... Online Assignment is improved in Moodle 2.0. We gave it the 'quick view' screen that Journal has so that you can see all the student's responses. I hope it should then be very similar. If there are any outstanding issues I'd be happy to look at them.
