This was of interest considering my visit to the Wolfner Library during the conference. The issue seems to center around loosening copyright restrictions so blind readers can have more easy access to materials that have be converted into a format accessible to them, and the resistance of the entertainment and publishing industries even though it would be beneficial.

This is the rest of the story of the Wired.com writer who got hacked. It's really alarming how easily this was done and also the *why*. The hackers just liked his 3 character twitter user name (there obviously aren't a lot of short twitter user names) and were out to hijack it. Dude lost the photos of his kids first year and loads of other irreplaceable stuff when they remote wiped his phone and laptop to prevent him from taking his twitter account back.

PeerJ on the surface sounds like an interesting concept where members pay to have their materials published and therefore have a lower overall cost to use and still allows academics to publish. However, this sounds similar to another article I read a few months ago of an explosion of "scholarly" journals that were little more than vanity presses. In particular I'm concerned about how a "qualified academic editor" will find peer reviewers, with little details on how the process will work or the qualifications of everyone involved.
