Marjorie Henderson (Morrisseau), originally from the Sagkeeng First Nation in Manitoba, was a mother of seven who was well-loved by her children. On July 31, 1993, Marjorie was found in her apartment, dead from blunt force trauma to the head. She was 56 years old. Winnipeg police handled the case.

Thompson Citizen October 7, 2016 09:42 AM Keewatin Tribal Council (KTC) organized a march in honour of missing and murdered aboriginal men and women in Thompson Oct. 4, marching from the KTC offices to the southern bank of the Burntwood River. Family members of the missing and murdered stood in the October cold to share their grief and memories.

How the Calgary Sisters in Spirit vigil has grown! The 12th annual vigil drew about 500 participants to a mid-day mid-week march and demonstration downtown. In 1994, Alex Cywink learned that his younger sister's body had been found in a park. Today, he and his siblings work not only on behalf of their sister, but for the more than 1,000 other indigenous women who are missing or have been murdered in Canada's recent history.
