Despite the provocative headline, did you get the feeling that they were telling you what you already know about quality schools? And unless I just read right past it, I don't think the researcher interviewed parents as part of what leads to academic success, which I thought was interesting since he seems to have researched just about every other group. Thanks for posting--I always enjoy reading stuff like this!

I agree with you Holly. Once again, it's hard to quantify exactly what happens in education. The major issue always has been that public never gets to the heart of the research and basis their opinions on fancy titles and pretty pictures/graphs.

A different way to "Google" from Google.

TimeRime.com is an online community that allows people to view, create and compare timelines. Timelines can be created by individuals, as well as companies or (public) institutions.

There is an education product, but it is not free.

Something to think about how we teach...

If a picture is worth a thousand words, a good animation is worth ten thousand. After reading book after book about the Pacific War and finding only complicated maps with dotted lines and dashed lines crisscrossing the pages, we decided to depict the key naval and land battles using animation technology.

How to use Google Sites to create e-portfoliios.

Stixy is a fun and easy way for students and educators to collaborate online.  Stixy reminds me of Wallwisher, but has many more options for sharing.  Start out with a blank virtual bulletin board.  Use the Stixy widgets to add content or functionality to your board, positioning them anywhere.  Users can add notes, photos, documents, or to-do items.  After content has been added to a board, it can be shared with others of your choosing.  Those that have been invited to the Stixy board can be given permission to add content, upload, or edit.
