This site is associated with the Creative Commons and offers musicians an opportunity to share their unsigned songs with the world. You can sell the tracks through Sound Cloud or you can just distribute them to share with a genre specific audience or accross the entire range of music styles that are available to SC's members. Obviously the selling of tracks can be very beneficial but the distribution of your music via this site is a great way to promote your band or music to the world. Sound Cloud is a relatively new resource, it only sprung up last year and Nine Inch Nails were the first major band to try it out, see what they did.

This site has a month at a glance gig guide that can be added to but it is only as big as its user group. The gig information is supplied by the bands and musicians themselves rather than being a "managed" guide that supplies the gig info itself. its a bit like Gig Pig in that it is relying on its membership base to add flesh to the bone. On the Community tag there is an extensive bibliographic list of their blogs, Soulshine has a very large membership but I suspect that they are essentially music fans rather than musicians judging by the small amount of gigs. So the more musos the better, there are over 1000 members here already.
Gigpig is a great resource for local musicians and punters. It's a mashup of data contributed by its users and is basically a huge database. "Every member is encouraged to add bands, venues, gigs and pictures". Gigpig provides "forums, a gig calendar, music news and a powerful search function". CH
Before there was facebook, there was my space. My space is the original social networking site. Of particular interest to artists and musicians is the fact that you can set up a profile, upload vidoes, pictures and music, get your own web address, send bulletins out to your contacts and get access to blogs, instant messaging (IM), and forums. My Space provides an avenue for artists and musicians to network, stay connected to what is happening, and advertise and market themselves directly to their audiences. CH

This little dancing robot is as cute as cute can be. I had to post this video of it dancing to music. It was developed by scientist (Hideki Kozima and programmed by Marek Michalowski) as a learning aid for children. The design of Keepon is very simple, just two eyes and a button nose It will certainly be a big hit when it goes onto sale in 2010.
Destroy all Lines holds band nights in most cities around Australia and 3 nights in Melbourne. NEXT and BANG are two nights held in the city and are combined on public holidays to form one night called PLASTIC. ANTI is a night held in Ringwood in the Eastern suburbs and BADA BING is in Frankston. All these events are held in venues and any band can apply to play these gigs.
To have your gig listed in this guide you need to have the info submitted before noon on Monday for the week of your gig. We also have an on-air gig guide which is broadcast Wednesday, Thursday and Friday at 7pm and Saturday and Sunday at 6pm. Due to time constraints not every gig that appears on the website will be broadcast on the on-air gig guide.
