Startup Canada spent a day at MaRS Discovery District, touring the facility and meeting with the entrepreneurs and leadership behind one of Ontario's leading drivers of innovation and small business, and interviewed MaRS CEO Ilse Treurnicht.

A new partnership between ClevrU and NewMindsets, facilitated by MaRS Innovation and York University's commercialization office, will establish second-generation online learning standards for millions of students worldwide.

Twelve Ontario companies have received funding from MaRS' Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF), bringing the program's total investment in Ontario's emerging enterprises to $26.6 million in 57 companies since its inception.

CML HealthCare Inc is planning to automate it's current infrastructure to deliver greater volume and medical laboratory tests. CML is also working to commercialize early-stage technologies in medical diagnostics in partnership with an Ontario government agency known as MaRS Innovation.

VentureStart is a program designed for entrepreneurs that are prepared to launch a new venture and are located in Southern Ontario. The business funding grants program is offered by MaRS, an Ontario Regional Innovation Centres (RIC) and has been designed to increase the success rate of start-up ventures.

The Honourable Ted Menzies, Minister of State (Finance) announced on August 24th that there will be new funding for the Canada Gairdner International Awards at the MaRS Centre in Toronto. "This new funding is in recognition of the Gairdner Foundation's outstanding achievements and breakthrough discoveries."
