This is an article about the use of games in education - it's VERY LONG, but in section 8 there is a summary of the best points. Lisa, David and I are taking LTMS603 about gaming in education and I think this article makes a lot of good arguments for why we should try to use it!

An example of a non-linear story. The open source application called Twine allows students to make these. Don't you think the younger students, especially, would enjoy making these?

I wonder if this idea of 60 second lectures could take hold in an English or Social Studies class, for example. Watch Charles Bernstein's "What Makes a Poem" clip. Clever. Would this be a good hook with your students?

Indiana high school students required to rent netbooks - 0 views

  • the schools will rent netbooks to students for $70 per year on top of their existing annual textbook fee.

I wonder if THIS is a way to get computers into schools wihout breaking the budgets each year? What do you think?
  •
Interesting! A textbook fee too! Hmmmm..they may have something there. I think this is a good idea. Would like to see it in place for elementary too. It might get a bit dicey for families who have more than 2 children.
  •
I was talking about the computers, but mentioned textbooks because that was unusual to me.

Some people in Belgium, got it goin' on! Interesting video. Like how one frame blended into the next. No Moonwalk here! LOL

Doesn't sound like the feds plan to do anything too soon to advance digital learning in the near future. SAD! What about having grants BEFORE kids drop out of school. Be proactive instead of reactive!
