One way to support wide reading developing readers is to pursue their interests. Search "videos with onscreen lyrics" and add the singer, music type, title, etc. This broad search of just "videos with onscreen lyrics yielded 150 million results--that's a lot of motivating text for a lot of readers.

Only possible downside for instruction is that all projects are made public--that's nice for a learning community but not so great for confidentiality for clinical/classroom vids.

If you took Tar Heel Reader, http://tarheelreader.org/, books, printed them, put a simple cover on them, and a template in front, "This book belongs to _____," you could accomplish that with the millions this project requires.
