After about two years the Debian project has released version 6.0, code-named Squeeze, of its famous distribution. You don't need to drop to the command line in order to use Linux, but a knowledge of the command line can be very useful. The command line is a very flexible, very powerful tool for doing things with your computer. Working at the command line can also cut down on the time it takes to carry out a task.
