Turkey has been undergoing education reforms because of the same reason" ..the current system was designed and conceived for a different age..." Do you think the reformed curricula meet the requirements of 21st century? I think wee need to reform the minds of people who are designing the curricula in this country...

It is like imitating other countries and take their education systems for granted rathr than reforming. Whatever it is, the education systems not only in East but also in some parts of west are based on social efficiency theory and students are conceived as to-be-workers. Self-actualization and intellectual development are not even in the secondary place.

The first robot teacher was tested in Tokyo in 2009 to sixth and seventh graders. The robot teacher can express six basic emotions - happiness, surprise, fear, disgust, sadness and anger. As I know a French company has developed a robot teacher, too.

To admit, yes it is an impressive way. However, I got stuck when it was said that robots could replace teachers in case of teacher shortage. It can be used as a tool for teaching-learning but it can not be treated as a teacher in real terms.

I think this is too much technological, where is the interaction? I totally agree with Yelda and Sinem in that a robot teacher cannot provide the effective class environment and fulfill teaching. The communication is really important in learning process, with a robot teacher this is impossible.

I want to introduce Sir Ken Rabinson who is a British author, speaker, and international advisor on education in the arts to government, non-profits, education, and arts bodies. He was Director of The Arts in Schools Project (1985-89), Professor of Arts Education at the University of Warwick (1989-2001), and was knighted in 2003 for services to education. I like watching his inspirational talks , I check the TED talks website for his new videos, he is such a creative person to me. His ideas are both very simply and impressively presented and the way he uses sense of humour is very successful.

I had chance to visit some Montessori early education centers and got impressed by the way children learn. I am really looking forward to hearing your comments on this method.

Whatever they are named, there are many nice ideas-theories of edcation. Montessori method is one of the contemporary ones which seems to present many potentials for the teachers. One point which looks problematic about Montessori in our education sysytem is motivating students to be actively engaged in activities. The question is "Is there a way to connect activities and heavy academic knowledge?". In other words, Can we help our students to get ready for the exams by engaging them in daily activities? My answer is "not really" :(

I liked the school environment too much. As far as I can see from the video, Montessori method engages ownership in learning, self-management and authenticity which I most appreciate in a learning process. The students have the chance to relate what they learn with life with willingness and curiosity. But as İbrahim said, my question is "Can we apply this to our education system?". Our children are in a race from the beginning for a endless examination world. Unfortunately, this is a bit utopia for us. However, I think in kindergarten or pre-school period we can apply this. But for high-school or even primary school I am not sure.
