  •
"Through a tip from Twitter, I requested a beta invite from a promising new iPad app called ShowMeApp. It promised to screen capture AND upload the video recording AND then provide me with an embed code. That ability was the one that caught my attention. "

Cultural Differences… | Langwitches Blog - 0 views

"Thanks to Alec Couros, I found this video titled Cultural Differences by National Geographic. I think it is an incredible example of how "real" cultural differences can be. It could be a wonderful introduction for someone who has never experienced another country, culture and people to "at least" become AWARE that their own culture might be perceived VERY different (even incomprehensible) by someone else. Even if you take only 5 minutes of your time to watch the first segment that shows a group of "Lost Boys from Sudan" and their flight to the USA and their first days/weeks in the country, it will be worth your time! Screencasting Apps for the iPad | Langwitches Blog - 0 views

"Teaching ourselves, our students and other educators how to use screenshooting (images) and screencasting (video) tools is a relevant skill to have that integrates in so many areas. Think Tutorial Designers (A role from the Digital Learning Farm) or the Flipped Classroom model. Being able to create, share and take advantage of readily available screencasts touch upon so many of the skills (create, communicate) and literacies (network, media, information literacy)."

"The more we podcast and have our students create video clips or other digital storytelling projects, the more we need to teach storyboarding as part of the process. Being able to pre-visualize how your story will unfold is becoming a vital skill to have for storytellers."

Augmented Reality that's "Real" and Focused on Learning | Langwitches Blog - 0 views

  •
"cross posted with permission from Dr. Silvana Meneghini,'s On The Edge Blog. Silvana, the High School Technology Coordinator at Graded, The American School of São Paulo, shared a How-To post to connect augmented reality to student reflection by adding a layer of learning (not technology for technology sake). I highly recommend adding her blog to your RSS reader and following her on Twitter to connect with her learning and teaching journey. Enjoy Silvana's post below: Augmented Reality allows you to expand the experience of the real world with information, video, sound, GPS data, and so on. If well utilized, it can be much more than just another cool tech thing… You will see below an example of how Augmented Reality was used to expand the experience of visitors to our school's Art Exhibit. As students had to reflect on and verbalize their artistic choices, an augmented reality layer was created for viewers of the exhibit. In the process, students were excited about sharing with an authentic audience and had to really recall and reflect. It created a hyperlinked reality that enabled amplification of the viewers' learning experience that was much more engaging than text."

Langwitches Blog » TEDxNYED- Ideas Worth Spreading - 0 views

"I had the incredible opportunity to attend TEDxNYED at the beginning of this month. The day was full of incredible presenters sharing their stories. Stories that I had heard before, but came alive with the passion of the presenters and the energy of the room filled with attendees ready to absorb, remix and disseminate in their own areas of influence."
