Carrot2 is open source code that enables search results clustering based on two "document clustering algorithms." The site provides downloads of the code, as well as documentation and a forum for coders.
This is a neat "tool" for free-writing. When the user hits the "go" button, s/he will see a word at the top of the screen and have 60 seconds to write about it.

High stakes (he's offered a cash reward) works better once the team has acquired skills; high stakes with no skills is a disaster.

Of particular interest to KPI are some of the Moodle-related offerings incuding ELIS (Enterprise Learning Intelligence Suite). The company offers a variety of services (hosting, learning services, webinars), as well as blogs.
This wiki offers an evolving collection of technology tools for collaborative work and online education. It is maintained by Margaret Riel and faculty and others from the Masters of Arts in Learning Technologies, Graduate School of Education and Psychology from Pepperdine University. There are a variety of tools and other useful links here -- watch out for currency, though. When visiting the site on 4/1/10, the last update had been Dec 2009.
