  •
n 2008 I was invited to write a series of blog posts for the Official Google Docs blog. I have decided to repost them here to highlight some of the challenges I faced at the time and in an effort to help you, not only with the use of Google Docs but also other online collaborative tools.

New Discussion Features in GDocs - 0 views

  •
Today, Google announced an enhancement to the Google Docs commenting system. The enhancement is being called "discussions." Discussions will allow document collaborators to have threaded conversations in the margins of a document. By including the @ symbol before a collaborator's name you can reply directly to that person. Another option in discussions is the option to be notified via email of replies to your comments in Google Docs.

Search Tips 1. Keep it short. Think about the doc, what would the writer say? How would they talk about it? Try to match what will appear. 2. State the answer. Instead of "When was the plane crash" Write "The plane crashed on. . . " 3. Use unique words in search 4. Look at more than one result, don't just pick the first link. Browse the entire page of results. 5. Pay attention to the "Did you mean. . . "

"As it turns out, Drive is much more than just a different name for where you used to store documents and spreadsheets. For example, did you know you can fax people documents and PDFs from Drive? Well, you can, and usually for free. You can also edit images in Aviary or Pixlr, send presentations to SlideRocket, and handle Microsoft Project files with Gantter."
