This Web site is brought to you from the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C., the largest Library in the world and the nation's Library.
We hope you will find this Web site entertaining and fun to use. And, of course, we hope you will learn something from it. The site was designed especially with young people in mind, but there are great stories for people of all ages, and we hope children and their families will want to explore this site together.

Gaggle.Net works on any computer with Internet access and a browser. All controls are displayed in a standard web page. There are no additional windows, no special controls, and no outside programs to be accessed.
The benefit of a completely web-based solution is that students (and the teacher) can access their email, respond, and even use their address book on any computer, with any browser in any location -- home, library, or the classroom. When students can read and respond to email at home, it saves valuable classroom time and extends the learning experience.

Musopen is an online music library of copyright free (public domain) music. We want to give the world access to music without the legal hassles so common today. There is a great deal of music that has expired copyrights, but almost no recordings of this music is in the public domain. We aim to record or obtain recordings that have no copyrights so that our visitors may listen, re-use, or in any way enjoy music. Put simply, our mission is to set music free.
SnagLearning features carefully selected films from SnagFilms' award-winning library of over 1,600 documentaries that are appropriate for students from middle school and up. Our titles cover nearly every classroom subject and many are produced by well-known educational sources, including PBS and National Geographic. The goal of this site is to highlight documentaries that make for engaging educational tools. We will also feature guest teacher bloggers as well as special programming stunts like Q&As with the filmmakers.Teachers can submit and share their own lesson plans, quizzes and homework ideas with fellow educators. The commenting area on each film page functions as public forum to share and discuss.
Freeplay allows free use of their music for educational purposes. Please read section 2(d) of the Terms of Use for clarification on what is and is not allowed.
