The Study of Native Americans - 0 views

  •
"At The Orchard School in Indianapolis, Indiana, second grade students study Native Americans. Each classroom has a different region on which to focus. The regions include Southwest, Plains, and Northwest. One of the schools goals is to get a historical as well as current day perspective on Native Americans. The children read fiction and nonfiction material, study patterns, geometry and time (looking into Native American art, family life, decorations, etc.). Project work includes constructing pueblos, hogans, and tools, writing poetry, legends, reports, and designing HyperStudio projects. "

PBS, with its nearly 360 member stations, offers all Americans - from every walk of life - the opportunity to explore new ideas and new worlds through television and online content. Each month, PBS reaches more than 110 million people through their local stations and nearly 19 million people online, inviting them to experience the worlds of science, history, nature and public affairs; to hear diverse viewpoints; and to take front row seats to world-class drama and performances. PBS' broad array of programs has been consistently honored by the industry's most coveted award competitions. Teachers of children from pre-K through 12th grade turn to PBS for digital content and services that help bring classroom lessons to life. PBS' premier children's TV programming and Web site, pbskids.org, are parents' and teachers' most trusted partners in inspiring and nurturing children's curiosity and love of learning. More information about PBS is available at www.pbs.org, one of the leading dot-org Web sites on the Internet.

Internet Tutorials - 0 views

  •
This Internet Tutorials site is intended as an introduction for people interested in learning about the Internet and especially the World Wide Web: what it is, how to search it, and how to use it as a research tool. This site has existed in one form or another since 1996. Over the years, it has been used by everyone from pre-teens to senior citizens all over the world. My purpose is to explain the basics of the Web as clearly as I can. The site is suitable for self-paced study. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles here. Mostly I attempt to explain how things work with prose. Most examples are in the form of screenshots.
