Free-Reading is an open source instructional program that helps educators teach early literacy. Because it is open source, it represents the collective wisdom of a wide community of teachers and researchers. Free-Reading contains a 40-week scope and sequence of primarily phonological awareness and phonics activities that can support and supplement a typical kindergarten or first grade "core" or "basal" program. Check the FAQs for their advisory board, who is sponsoring and research base.

This is a blog site I have referenced before: Sam does an extensive amount of work around AAC and accessibility using Web 2.0 tools. This blog reference reviews a new and Free program from the University of North Carolina. It is a collaborative project between Comp Sci and the Department of Literacy and Disability (Karen Erickson's group). Take a look.

This list of bookmarks has been put togetther by Karen Janowski, she is a proliferative blogger who seems to have a deep understanding AT and the current issues. Instead of "recreating the wheel" I thought I would post her del.icio.us list on our Diigo site. Nothing like cross referencing.

I came upon this site using StumbleUpon. It is hard to explain but the whole projoect is devoted to the development of reading skills and what happens when children experience problems. There are over 100 video interviews with National leaders in the field, interviews, and ariticles.

Write-On Handwriting was mentioned in the CEC Smartbrief. Wonder what the OT's would think of it?

This product was discussed at several CTG sessions.  TTS, Word prediction, larger LCD screen, etc.
