MaYoMo - Map Your Moments - Citizen Journalism online - Find, report and demand news wo... - 0 views

  •
MaYoMo ( Map Your Moments ) is a video-centric social news network for mobile citizen journalism. Our contributors and users include citizen journalists, bloggers, journalism students, experienced independent journalists and NGO's from all over the world. In other words, if you are aware of your surrounding life and you need to express your point of view on certain topics or events, you are more than welcome in our network. MaYoMo enables its users to ask for news and information from any corner of the world. Whenever you have a question about some event that you've just heard of or read about e.g., you can easily place a request in a country from MaYoMo's world map and ask what happened, when or where. Users from that region can possibly help you out by providing you any information available. This is how we let you get involved in the global events not only by witnessing, reporting or commenting them, but also by digging them out right from the place they have happened. As we know many people nowadays spend most of their time in virtual worlds, rather than in the real life, we've built them a special continent on our map. "Virtu" is the virtual continent where users can ask for news or send reports about events in worlds like Second Life, World of Warcraft and dozens more. Greetings, The MaYoMo Team

Free Technology for Teachers: Create Live Music on the Web With Your Friends - 2 views

"Jam With Chrome is a fun new Google web tool. On Jam With Chrome (only works if you use the Chrome browser) you can play nineteen virtual instruments. Jams can have four musicians playing together in real-time over the web. It's an application that I had a bit of fun playing with this evening. Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be a native recording application built into Jam With Chrome. You could use a screencasting tool like Jing or Screenr to record your jam session. "

3M Science of Everyday Life - Discovery Education - 1 views

  •
Discovery Education and 3M have partnered to bring the science of everyday life into your classroom. This fantastic collection of resources is for students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. On the site you will find videos and interactives that help kids learn about the science around them and make connections to what they are learning in school. Lessons are inquiry based and encourage exploration in life science, physical science, earth science and technology/innovation. Virtual labs are interactive flash-based labs where students can discover more about science like wind energy. At the Innovation HQ portion of the site, students can travel through time and look at innovations that they use in their every day life and "meet" 3M scientists. On the Student page, students can see a young inventors hall of fame.

Good Use of QR Codes | The Thinking Stick - 1 views

  •
"ust about a year ago I predicted that 2011 would be the year of the QR Code. That we would see these little squares popping up everywhere especially in America as smartphone sells continue to climb. Looking back over the past year I've given quiet a few talks on QR Codes their power and scenarios for best us. When used propertly QR Codes can add value. When not used propertly they're just wasting space. QR Codes should be used to connect something in the physical world to something in the virtual world."

45 Websites For Students To Create Original Artwork Online - 8 views

  •
"More and more websites are coming online to give students the ability to unleash their creativity in new and innovative ways. From abstract art to pointillism, students now can click and draw their way into original works of art, and today's freebie gives you a great list of places to begin. The sites are labeled by grade level to help guide you to those that best suit your students. In addition, I've added ratings to give teachers and students an idea of how much interactivity is available at each site. Some allow students to create from beginning to end, while others simply generate the final product with minimal effort. What you will not find here are basic virtual coloring sheets. I tried to find sites that would give students a chance to generate their own original works of art. What could be better? I will warn you that some of these sites will drag you in to create for long periods of time. Don't worry, you'll just be channeling your inner artist. Have fun!"
