Fox Edits Phone-Hacking Joke From Emmys; Replaces Baldwin With Nimoy - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
Alec Baldwin, a star of the NBC comedy "30 Rock," had taped an opening skit for the show days in advance, and in it he had referenced the phone hacking scandal that has embroiled the News Corporation in Britain. When Fox decided to edit out the reference over the weekend, Mr. Baldwin asked that his appearance be cut altogether because he felt the edit might affect the flow of the entire segment. A Fox spokeswoman said the reference was removed because the company was taking the hacking allegations seriously and did not want to appear to be making jokes about them.

I think this Lions roar was interesting because their school has ipads and we don't in our library. Conflict- They have a really bad budget for their school. Worse then ares.
  •
Two iPads were placed in the South library in the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year. The iPads have been available for student access since their installation; however, their use has been limited. The iPads are part of a pilot program for new technology at South. Despite the budget cuts that are increasing every year, the iPads were purchased for the library last spring by the technology department. "We don't have a lot of budget for technology, but we have enough to do things like replace light bulbs and repair computers," Principal Joel Stembridge said. "Then we have enough money [left over] to do some little pilots and try new things."

Young Designers Lead the Way at London Fashion Shows - Fashion Review - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
Mr. Tait and Mr. Kane planted their models on the ground, in sneakers or rubber-soled sandals that matched the outfit. But sporty footwear wasn't the only thing that gave their clothes a sense of urgency. Both designers approached cut and silhouette as if they were problems to be solved. By contrast, many designers at the British spring shows simply offered a polished look, and then decorated it with vivid prints or color. Their ideas weren't empty, but they didn't seem interested in getting below the surface.

Bodies hanging from bridge in Mexico are warning to social media users - CNN.com - 0 views

  • The gruesome scene sent a chilling message at a time when online posts have become some of the loudest voices reporting violence in Mexico. In some parts of the country, threats from cartels have silenced traditional media. Sometimes even local authorities fear speaking out.
  • It will be nearly impossible to determine if the two victims actually posted anything about cartels on the Internet, as people don't usually use their real names online, he said
  • A woman was hogtied and disemboweled, her intestines protruding from three deep cuts on her abdomen. Attackers left her topless, dangling by her feet and hands from a bridge in the border city of Nuevo Laredo. A bloodied man next to her was hanging by his hands, his right shoulder severed so deeply the bone was visible. Signs left near the bodies declared the pair, both apparently in their early 20s, were killed for posting denouncements of drug cartel activities on a social network.
