Tebow-Mania Reconsidered: A Fan Perspective - NFL - Yahoo! Sports - 0 views

To any leg-breakers who might be reading this article, remember that I came up with the idea first, so I'll take a small piece of the action, thank you very much. What I'm about to propose is the prop bet of the football season. 72 days. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married for 72 whole days before everything went sideways. (Wow. Nobody saw that coming; and they seemed like such a cute and well-matched couple…) Here's the bet: will Tim Tebow's(notes) stint as starting quarterback for the Denver Broncos last longer than the Kardashian/Humphries union?

Kardashian Divorce May Finally Remove Kardashian Wedding From Airwaves -- Vulture - 0 views

  •
Kardashian Divorce May Finally Remove Kardashian Wedding From Airwaves It was supposed to be a storybook wedding between a famous butt and a man she has never been able to climb to the top of, and now it has ended in heartbreak: Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries are divorcing. This presents a problem for E!, reports the New York Times, since the channel has aired its megabudgeted Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event almost every single day since it premiered a few weeks ago; the article claims that executives have been huddled in meetings all day, weighing whether to pull the special from the air. (Their union died so that we may live!) Meanwhile, though Kardashian has claimed in a statement that the divorce was arrived at "after careful consideration," TMZ reports that poor Humphries was blindsided, screaming "NOOO" and "Caesar is ALREADY home," before freeing some other basketball players to chase after her. Letters: Possible solutions to improve safety at intersections in Flemington area | NJ.com - 0 views

  •
Cars heading west on Walter Foran Boulevard can go straight across Rt. 31 from the middle lane or the right lane. However, just east of Rt. 31, the two lanes must merge quickly and often dangerously, and I'm sure not all drivers in the right lane know that their lane will vanish momentarily. Solution: the right lane should only be for right turns north onto Rt. 31. Now that we have a beautiful new alignment at the intersection of North Main and Park Avenue, why was a left-turn arrow not been incorporated into the traffic light? The time to make these kinds of decisions is during major construction.

Technology News: Tech Buzz: Will Microsoft Get Lucky With Yahoo? - 0 views

  •
Microsoft may have been "lucky," as CEO Steve Ballmer put it, that its 2008 bid to buy Yahoo for $47 billion fell through. But what he might have really meant was that now, Microsoft may be able to scoop up Yahoo for a fraction of that sum, a venture it's reportedly pursuing. Meanwhile, Google shows Ice Cream Sandwich, RIM shows BBX and Apple shows its teeth.

Newly-Obtained Emails Show Further Treasury Concern Over Solyndra Restructuring | Fox B... - 0 views

  •
"Newly-Obtained Emails Show Further Treasury Concern Over Solyndra Restructuring Treasury officials, on several occasions, questioned the legality of the Department of Energy's approval of a loan restructuring for the now-bankrupt solar panel manufacturer, Solyndra, according to internal government emails obtained by FOX Business. The emails show Treasury officials and a handful of accounts raised concerns with officials at the Departments of Energy and Justice that the proposed restructuring violated federal regulations. The Department of Energy eventually approved the agreement that brought in more private capital on the condition those investors would largely stand before the federal government in the event Solyndra filed for bankruptcy. The solar company did so nearly seven months later."

Rose blames owners for NBA lockout - NBA - ESPN - 0 views

"Rose blames owners for NBA lockout CHICAGO -- Derrick Rose says blame for the NBA's current labor impasse rests squarely with team owners, not players. "It's very sad, but everybody knows it's not our fault," the Chicago Bulls point guard and reigning NBA most valuable player said Saturday. "If it was up to us we'd be out there playing. I think that is wrong and I know they could easily take care of it." The 23-year-old Bulls star talked about the lockout and his training regimen during downtown appearances introducing a new adidas shoe line. Rose said the NBA lockout, which has wiped out training camp, exhibition games and the early port of the regular 2011-12 season, has been frustrating. "They (the owners) aren't thinking about anything that we're saying," he said. "They're not taking into consideration (anything) that we're trying to give them. We're just going to have to see how it goes.""

White House Says Data Shows Iran Push on Nuclear Arms - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
"To Isolate Iran, U.S. Presses Inspectors on Nuclear Data WASHINGTON - President Obama is pressing United Nations nuclear inspectors to release classified intelligence information showing that Iran is designing and experimenting with nuclear weapons technology. The president's push is part of a larger American effort to further isolate and increase pressure on Iran after accusing it of a plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's ambassador to the United States. If the United Nations' watchdog group agrees to publicize the evidence, including new data from recent months, it would almost certainly revive a debate that has been dormant during the Arab Spring about how aggressively the United States and its allies, including Israel, should move to halt Iran's suspected weapons program. Over the longer term, several senior Obama administration officials said in interviews, they are mulling a ban on financial transactions with Iran's central bank - a move that has been opposed by China and other Asian nations. Also being considered is an expansion of the ban on the purchase of petroleum products sold by companies controlled by the country's elite military force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. "

Romney, Perry and Cain Open Wide Financial Lead Over Field - NYTimes.com - 0 views

  •
"Romney Beating Obama in a Fight for Wall St. Cash It is no secret that the relationship between President Obama and Wall Street has chilled. A striking measure of that is the latest campaign finance reports. Mitt Romney has raised far more money than Mr. Obama this year from the firms that have been among Wall Street's top sources of donations for the two candidates. That gap underscores the growing alienation from Mr. Obama among many rank-and-file financial professionals and Mr. Romney's aggressive and successful efforts to woo them. The imbalance exists at large investment banks and hedge funds, private equity firms and commercial banks, according to a New York Times analysis of the firms that accounted for the most campaign contributions from the industry to Mr. Romney and Mr. Obama in 2008, based on data from the Federal Election Commission and the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. It could widen as Mr. Obama, seeking to harness anger over growing income inequality, escalates his criticism of the industry, after a year spent trying to smooth ties bruised by efforts to impose tougher regulations. Letters: Congressman Lance's vote on TRAIN Act wasn't in New Jersey's best interest | N... - 0 views

"Letters: Congressman Lance's vote on TRAIN Act wasn't in New Jersey's best interest To the Editor: Congressman Leonard Lance voted against New Jersey's interest by supporting a bill that will affect our health and economy. Lance, who is a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, voted in favor of the TRAIN Act, (H.R. 2401), an outright attack on clean air. This legislation would block health safeguards issued by the Environmental Protection Agency and prevent mercury standards from being adopted. Lance represents the 7th District in Central Jersey, an area that was ranked number 17 on a list ranking the nation's worst air quality, particularly for smog. Representing an area that is already burdened with poor air quality and pollution makes Lance's decision even worse. Thousands of Americans die every year from illnesses related to poor air quality. These numbers will increase if we continue on this path, costing thousands of lives and billions of dollars in health bills. Lance not only voted against our health, but our economy as well."

Technology News: Communication Systems: BlackBerry's Thorny Problem Chokes Service in N... - 0 views

  •
"BlackBerry's Thorny Problem Chokes Service in North America The Great BlackBerry Blackout of 2011 has spread to cover North America, bringing the days-long problem to even more users. RIM says the messaging and browsing problems impacting BlackBerry subscribers were due to a core switch failure within its infrastructure. Apparently, the system's designed to failover to a backup switch, but the switch didn't work as it should have, resulting in a large backlog of data. Research In Motion's (Nasdaq: RIMM) continuing BlackBerry service disruptions hit customers in North America Wednesday. This makes the disruptions, which first emerged in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on Monday, a worldwide phenomenon. RIM states that subscribers in the Americas may be experiencing intermittent service delays this morning, that it's working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible, and that it will provide a further update when it can. "I don't know why, but RIM won't say anything other than that they know what the problem is and they're working on it," Craig Mathias, a principal at the Farpoint Group and a mobile communications expert at Focus.com, told TechNewsWorld. Asked whether the outage has affected BlackBerry Enterprise Server or is limited to BlackBerry Internet Services, Mathias indicated the situation is unclear. "Nobody seems to know anything," he said."

"DOT to repave 1.2 miles of Route 202 north of Flemington Circle Route 202 will be resurfaced in both directions from just north of the Route 202-31 traffic circle in Flemington to north of Greenwood Drive in Raritan Township. The DOT's contractor, Arawak Paving Co., has begun preliminary operations to prepare the roadway for resurfacing this week. Route 202 carries two travel lanes in each direction. Resurfacing operations will require single lane closures on Route 202 in both directions during overnight and off-peak hours. One travel lane on Route 202 will be maintained in each direction at all times during construction. All work is weather dependent. The $1.2 million project will mill and repave the travel lanes and shoulders along a 1.2 mile stretch of Route 202, as well as make curbing and guide rail improvements. Completion is scheduled for early 2012."
