If you are familiar with Open Office, then you know it is a free, open source alternative to Microsoft Office. They have now designed a new suite of applications designed just for kids 7 to 12 years of age. Open Office for Kids is also free. Might be worth checking out, especially since the Microsoft Office applications were designed with adults in mind.

Footnote provides access to several original documents throughout different periods in history. A great resource for students needing primary sources.

This is a nice site I've been exploring recently. Schoology looks and works similar to Facebook, but it is designed for schools. It is free and also includes a learning management system so you can set up courses, blogs, etc. Think of it as Facebook and Moodle combined. I think this has great potential and I would really like to see how it works with a real class.
