$10 iPad App Setup | My Hullabaloo - 21 views

  •
"One question I seem to get a lot about the iPad is what apps do I recommend that are free. I am hearing from a lot of teachers that they have no way to add paid apps and thus are stuck trying to find free apps. My experience is that many free apps stink. They have many adds, require in app purchases to be useful, or are just junk. I tend to stay away from most free apps. So what are you to do if the district controls adding paid apps? My suggestion is to build relationships with the decision makers. Don't just ask for a bunch of apps, instead provide documentation and purpose for a few apps you would like to have. I know this process takes time and effort but if you can show the purpose and learning you have a much better chance. If you need lesson ideas I suggest checking out my Pinterest page, and three of my favorite Pinterest pages: appsammy, TechChef4u, and Sue Gorman. Look for apps and lesson ideas there and modify them to fit your standards and kids. If I was starting from scratch this is the $10 iPad app setup I would push for in my kindergarten apps. (I will be posting a $20 setup later)"

100+ iPad Apps Perfect for High School/Middle School - 16 views

  • If you’re a student, teacher, or administrator at a high school looking into adopting iPads for educational purposes, it’s important to know that the iPad is more than just an easy way to browse the web or visit the app store. Edudemic has published three featured articles on the best iPad iPads for the iPads over the last month or so. These are invaluable lists for educators, students and parents. These iPads obviously overlap but I thought it might be a good idea to put a link to all three of these articles for those people that share one ipad for multiple users.

The Nerdy Teacher: Using My iPad in the Classroom This Year (Redux) #edchat - 12 views

  •
"Two years ago today, I wrote a post about how I was going to use my iPad in the classroom. It was simply titled "Using My iPad in the classroom This Year". To my surprise, it is my most visited post of all time with over 37,000 page views. That is about 20,000 more than my second most read post. I thought it would be fun to do an updated post having used the iPad in my class for two years. Now that I have a class set of classroom, the number of classroom that I use or will be using has changed and I thought I would share that with everyone."

The History 2.0 Classroom: Back to School App-pack - 8 views

  •
"The summer is quickly winding down & a number of teachers will be returning to their classroom with new mobile devices (classroom). Throughout the summer I have been conducting workshops on iPad integration with EdTechTeacher and I thought it might be helpful to pull together a back to school list of classroom structured around specific classroom goals. While many schools may already have an Apple VPP program already in place, I know a number of teachers will also be purchasing the classroom themselves. Therefore, I will do my best to include both a pay & free app for each objective."

Learning and Teaching with iPads - Kevin's posterous - 14 views

"We have been using the iPads in our Year 6 iPads. The students were very excited at the prospect of using iPads in our day-to-day learning. Our aim with the iPad was to use them for as many hours in the school day as we could. We have found the iPads beneficial in English groups and Maths groups. I have downloaded many applications for the students to use. I have noticed that new iPads are added each day so regularly checking the app store has been beneficial. "

Explain Everything App - A Teachers iPad App - 9 views

  •
"It doesn't take more than a cursory exploration of the application Explain Everything for the iPad, to find out that it is an incredibly useful and versatile app. So what is Explain Everything, exactly and what does it do? Well the answer to that question is in the name of the application itself. You can use the app to explain and share tutorial videos, collaborate with others and develop ideas and you can also use it to do live interactive presentations, using an iPad in the classroom."

So here are some of the recent rumors being discussed in the run-up to Wednesday's big announcement by Apple."

Khan Academy Enters Next Era With iPad App | Fast Company - 10 views

  •
"Khan Academy, the wildly popular Youtube lecture series, is slated to launch its iPad app any minute now in Apple's store. The enhanced version of Khan Academy will include time-syncing between devices--no Internet connection required, an interactive transcript of the lectures for easy searching, and a handy scrubber for moving between parts of the lectures. Perhaps more importantly, now that more schools have begun adopting Khan's lectures for their own classrooms, the free iPad app could possibly replace or supplement textbooks, saving cash-strapped schools and students a lot of money."
