"After only a day of use, I'm very impressed. Not only is it easy to use, but it offers a lot of features and customization that iMovie doesn't. From picture-inpicure, to three layers of audio, Avid Studio is a really nice video editing app."

Digital Storytelling with Pinnacle Studio for iPad | iPad with Wes - 12 views

"If you want to edit and create videos on your iPad, consider using the Pinnacle Studio for iPad app. It may seem expensive for an iPad app at $10, but my formative experiences with it this weekend were VERY positive. IMHO it's worth the money. "

iPad Video Editing Gets Serious With Avid Studio - 7 views

  •
"Its not the first video-editing app for the iPad, but Avid Studio, which was released earlier today, stands out as one of the more sophisticated offerings out there. Its interface will be familiar to anybody who uses Avid's desktop video-editing suite, or even products like iMovie or Final Cut Pro X. "

Dark Side of the iPad ~ Collecting student projects is difficult! | John Larkin - 16 views

Since its release the iPad has garnered arguments regarding whether it is primarily a device for consumption or creation. I have always believed that it is a device capable of creation. One simply needs to consider apps such as Avid Studio, DemiBooks Composer, Pages, Keynote, Minecraft Pocket Edition, Art Rage, SketchBook Pro, Comic Life and many others. These and many other apps all allow the user to tap into their talents and produce output of which they can be proud.

"Learning basic math facts is a standard part of an elementary school education, but many children (and even some parents) dread the repetition of flash cards and times tables. Operation Math for iPad by Spinlight Studio hopes to make learning math facts less onerous by turning the task into a game."

"I wrote about an iPad app last summer called "The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore", which was basically the acme of interactive storytelling on the iPad to date. In November, I visited the company that created it, Moonbot Studios, and saw what they were working on as a follow-up: a story-app called "The Numberlys," about a group of cute misfits who invent the alphabet in a gray, stern world inhabited only by numbers. "Studio Pango produces a bunch of iPad apps that children (pre-K through grade 2) are sure to love. Some of the apps are free and some of the apps require purchase. To get a sense of what the paid apps offer, try the free apps first. This morning I tried two of the free apps. I tried Pango Book 1 and Pango Playground for Kids."

Here are some links about our upcoming AppCamp; an idea that was spun out of the last Dust or Magic meeting in anticipation of the flood of touch/motion related hardware. Feel free to call or email me directly if you have any questions or ideas; I'm still forming the agenda. About: It is time to explore the iPad's potential for children. The Inaugural Dust or Magic Children's App Design Institute is a three-day review of the best (magic) and worst (dust) children's media for handheld devices. We'll critique the state of the art, brainstorm possibilities and test a lot of hardware and apps. Speakers: The list is growing as the event develops (this is a first). The idea is to bring together a small ( (105 miles from San Francisco on the tip of the Monterey Peninsula. Cost: $1380 for one seat, $990 for 2-5, plus housing ($130/night). Group size is limited to 60. There will be a free, public AppFest on Sunday and a larger TED-like event in the Chapel. UPENN graduate credit is available; students are welcome to attend the Sunday lecture at no cost pending seating. To Register: 800-993-9499 (9-2:30 PM EST), online Please note that space is limited to 60. Seats remaining as of March 6: 39 I appreciate any help marketing this to the right people; and call me with your ideas. W -- Warren Buckleitner, Ph.D

I would give my eye teeth to attend this... cost is an issue right now. Sounds amazing! If you need ideas on where to spread the word, let me know. I'll send this out to the Apple Distinguished Educator list for sure.
