"Recently our administrators were given iPads to use in order to increase efficiency. After soliciting my PLN and doing some hands-on research I have compiled a 'getting started' app list. Here are the apps I encourage you to check out if you are just getting started with using your ipad."

Classroom ideas for getting started with iPads- more the how and why than the what apps.

"For the iPad there is a great timer/stopwatch app called Minu Timer. This universal free app needs no instructions (although it does include a start up 'how to use' page appearing on your first launch). The interface is simple and the user experience proves that a well written app will let users jump right in and get started. A lack of buttons and excessive tuning options keeps things uncluttered and removes the need to tap through to layers of screens."

"Enter Educreations, a start up that allows anyone to create, narrate, and record lessons (whiteboard style) and publish the tutorials on the web, all from your iPad. This is a pretty amazing looking start up, and just closed a $2.2. million round of funding from investors. I'm guessing that investors see the writing on the digital walls!"

"A couple weeks ago, a coworker made a comment, "off to Inspiro to get started". We all chuckled as if we knew the place. We were later surprised to learn it's a iPad app. An app, like our old Palm Dilbert, that came up with catchy words groups to get the mind pulses started."

"Everything Butt Art is a wonderful series of books that started showing up in stores less than a year ago. The concept (ahem…) behind the book works well in almost any form, but it really becomes magical once you see it on the iPad - and now you can. It's part book and part drawing app, and it teaches step-by-step drawing with a twist, as all the drawings start with a butt shape (a rounded lowercase w)."

"My school was lucky enough to get a class set of iPads (unless you have a class with over 30 students), and I was lucky enough to be the one in charge of looking after them.
