$10 iPad App Setup | My Hullabaloo - 21 views

  •
"One question I seem to get a lot about the iPad is what apps do I recommend that are free. I am hearing from a lot of teachers that they have no way to add paid apps and thus are stuck trying to find free apps. My experience is that many free apps stink. They have many adds, require in app purchases to be useful, or are just junk. I tend to stay away from most free apps. So what are you to do if the district controls adding paid apps? My suggestion is to build relationships with the decision makers. Don't just ask for a bunch of apps, instead provide documentation and purpose for a few apps you would like to have. I know this process takes time and effort but if you can show the purpose and learning you have a much better chance. If you need lesson ideas I suggest checking out my Pinterest page, and three of my favorite Pinterest pages: iPadsammy, TechChef4u, and Sue Gorman. Look for apps and lesson ideas there and modify them to fit your standards and kids. If I was starting from scratch this is the $10 iPad app setup I would push for in my kindergarten classroom. (I will be posting a $20 setup later)"

The top 10 reasons your mobile learning strategy will fail - 7 views

  •
"[The iPad] it's the first device that actually is a reflection of me - or us. It's so revolutionary that it's no longer about me adapting myself to somebody else's set of programmings or the way in which a device is going to engage. It is the reverse. It is as though I'm looking in a mirror." I love this description because it encapsulates what should be the crux of any mobile learning strategy. That is, recognizing that mobile content delivery should be fully controlled by the learner. In other words, what content the learner wants; where and when they want it; and how they want it delivered - with no constraints.

Stop iPad Screen from Dimming or Locking Automatically - 3 views

  •
"The iPad screen defaults to automatically dim itself and then turn itself off after a fairly short amount of time of inactivity. That's great for preserving battery life of iOS devices, but if you're like me you keep an iPad or iPhone alongside you full time while working as a control panel for Pandora, podcasts, and email, and having the screen lock after a few minutes of inactivity is annoying. Sized for comfort, it does away with inaccuracies common to fingertip-only use. Turn your MacBook trackpad into a pen tablet for premium drawing programs! The new multi-touch trackpads allow the Pogo Sketch to control your favorite drawing programs (like, say Scribbles).

iPad Creative - iPad Creative Blog - SteadyLens becomes Luma - Goes Free and ... - 3 views

  •
"SteadyLens developers midnox have just released a new, updated, version of the app and changed its name to Luma. The name change reflects the new features which go beyond just (very good) video stabilisation. The big feature is the price - Luma is now free (dropping the $2.99 / £1.99 in-app upgrade), but we also like the live filters and manual controls."
