100 Apps for Tech-Savvy Teachers Teachers have one of the most difficult jobs out there. As an educator, you have to manage a classroom of boisterous students, organize heaps of data, stay up-to-date with current events and plan lessons day in and day out. In today's technologically linked world, the ability to use web applications is at your advantage as an educator, and we are here to tell you the best tools to use. Here is a collection of 100 web and iPhone applications that make the grade for tech-savvy teachers:

"Learn how to setup, use and moderate content on a classroom blog to improve student writing skills. A moderated classroom blog is the ideal platform to use to share announcements, classroom news, and student work for a public audience. In this workshop we'll use several free blogging and learning management tools. These will include KidBlog (powered by WordPress), My Big Campus, and Edmodo. We'll also explore how free Posterous.com sites can be used to share rich media including images, audio and video files from iPads including "cart-based" iPads using a shared student "sending" email account. a collection of 1,300 + apps for learning. APPitic is a directory of apps for education by Apple Distinguished Educators (ADEs) to help you transform teaching and learning. These apps have been tested in a variety of different grade levels, instructional strategies and classroom settings.

This wiki is intended to be a clearinghouse of applications, lessons ideas and experiences using the iPad in the classroom. The intention is that all apps listed have been tested and recommended by teachers using them. The Apps pages are generally created using google docs spreadsheets, feel free to update the wiki or the spreadsheets. (A link is provided on each page for the spreadsheets... at least the ones I've started working on...) At this point, as a high school science teacher, most of the apps I've recommended and investigated are geared to this level. Some can be used at any level. I invite you to add pages dedicated to your areas of interest and expertise if they are not already listed here. I would love to see a section on Literature and Language and Elementary Skills added to the wiki along with additions to any of the currently developed spreadsheets. It would also be sweet to share specific lessons or ideas for applications and activities.
