"Side by Side is a remarkable free app. With Side by Side, you can split the iPad screen into as many as four windows that can be positioned and sized as needed. These windows can be used to view multiple websites, PDF's or MS Word files. Or, any of the windows may be used for note-taking text editors. Text can be copied into a text editor from other open windows. Text-to-speech is available in any of the windows via Speak Selection."

iPad Alarm gives you enough time to scrape the window or shovel the snow | iGo With My ... - 2 views

A free alarm app we found to help keep us on time in the morning is Winter Wake-Up. The app is for the iPhone but works fine on the iPad in 2x mode. The idea of the app is that it watches for weather changes where you are (you need to have Location Services turned on), then adjusts your wake up alarm time to give you extra time.

10 Things You Never Knew You Could Do On Your iPad: Apple News, Tips and Revi... - 13 views

  • Enable Multitasking Gestures When Apple released Xcode 4 to the Mac App Store, it also exposed the ability for anyone to enable the multitasking gestures on the iPad.  Once enabled, you can use five fingers to swipe up and down to reveal the multitask bar, left and right to navigate through open Apps on the multitasking bar.  You can also perform a five finger pinch to close the App you are in and return to the home screen.  To enable multitasking gestures, you must first purchase Xcode 4 from the Mac App Store ($4.99) or simply download it from the Apple Developer Connection (ADC) if you are already a member.  Then launch Xcode 4 and select the Organizer tool from the Window menu (or click Shift+Command+2).  Attach the iPad to your Mac and click on the enable development button.  Log on the the ADC and click through the error messages if they are presented.  Finally, on the iPad go to the General setting in the Settings App and you will notice a new setting near the bottom labels “Multitasking Gestures”.

"Plenty of apps give you stripped-down versions of Office on the iPad. But OnLive Desktop gives you the complete Windows Office suite. In Word, you can do fancy stuff like tracking changes and high-end typography. In PowerPoint, you can make slide shows that the iPad projects with all of the cross fades, zooms and animations intact. Daily iPad App: MyScript Memo takes your handwriting and turns it into text | TUAW - Th... - 2 views

  •
"Handwriting is one of those things that seems like it should be easy on the iPad, but, in reality, it is fairly difficult. Unlike Apple's legendarily quirky handwriting recognition on the Newton or the Windows tablets of more recent vintage, the iPad is designed primarily for finger-based input, not for longhand wirting with a stylus."

Get FireFox on the iPad (Sort Of) with Foxbrowser - 6 views

  •
"Foxbrowser is a new web browser for iPad that's basically Firefox for iOS - though not officially - thanks to an open source fork broken off from Mozillas abandoned FireFox Home app. It's surprisingly fast and best of all has full support for the convenient Firefox Sync feature, keeping your tabs, bookmarks, and history the same across all your Firefox browsers be them on the desktop in OS X, at work in Windows or Linux, or right on the iPad in Foxbrowser."
